In this time of year it’s wise for taking enough vitamines,
the weather is gloomy, so less sun, and lots people are sick (fluenza).
So Grandma hands over a banana to her granddaughter, she only can’t open the peel of the banana, Grandma is helping her 😉.

For an interesting and challenging commission I've been busy
making fruits: apples, pears, grapes on a bunch, cherries, peaches, one banana
(just for trying out 😉) and a few plums (some
were made awhile ago). I also experimented again with making open-cut fruits with pips in it...... phew, THAT was quite an complicated process...!
If you look well on the above picture, you can see that the
apples are a bit "old”, because their skin is just a bit wrinkled, just like
with us, people, hehehe 😉!
week toegewenst!
The bright red small apples (front right) are named “star apples”
(literally translated from Dutch), it’s an old sort of apples, which I can
recall very clearly of my childhood.
They smelled wonderfully sweet and they had light pink colored flesh (pulp?).
Thank you for your kind comments, have a nice week!

Dear Ilona, your fruits are Awesome! And I LOVE to see Little you with Grandma helping to peel the banana! :)
The apples are wonderfully real... my apples are best when a little bit wrinkled... sweeter and softer that way! As usual, I am so impressed with your perfect produce!!! :)
I love the banana especially! All your fruit is wonderful but the banana is my favorite.
Besos.
Hi Ilona! Do you know why I love your dolls? They are alive! Yes, they are alive! They can peel a banana, talk, be amazed and rejoice!
Your fruits are unique! I imagine how difficult it is to make sliced fruits with pits! But how interesting and exciting it is!
Thank you very much for the tip :) :) :). Paper banana peel! That's great!
Hugs
Tatiana
Dear Ilona, the fruit is all wonderful. I am always amazed at the realism and amount of detail you manage to get into these tiny, tiny pieces of art.
I too remember the little star apples from when I was growing up. We used to get them around Christmas time and would polish them up until they were really shiny before hanging them on the tree with silk ribbons.
Have a lovely week.
Hugs
Anna
como siempre ...chapeau!
Dear Ilona,
I can never have enough of your photos, especially the ones with little-you and your grandmother. They tell me so much about how life in the 50th was in Holland, not much different than it was here.
Your fruit is stunningly lifelike. Please don't let us mention wrinkles, a very sad subject for me.
Hugs, Drora
Your fruits are wonderful, I must say your banana is really fantastic. I love the scenes with Grandma, so sweet.

I love your fruits. It´s a good idea to make the banana´s peel on paper. It´s look fantastic.
Hugs
All your fruit is amazing, but the banana is my favorite. The scene with grandma and granddaughter is so sweet.
Grandmas are always taking the best care of us! Even though they are just dolls, you can still see the love between them! The bananas look not only totally real, but delicious, too!!! The rest of the fruits - what can I say... You are a Master! :O)
Fijn weekend alvast.
Liefs Christa.
Tus frutas son perfectas !!!!
Oh my… I'm late… but better late than never. And it would have been such a shame to miss this wonderful post. It was so touching to see Little-You and Grandma together, yes, that's what Grandmas are for… taking care of their grandchildren in any way. And it helped… because your coughing has gone with the wind now… ;O)
The peeled banana and all the other fruits are stunning and look realistic enough to take a bite. And the wrinkled apples… this is that certain touch of realism that makes your work so outstanding and special.
Hugs
Birgit
Dear Ilona, I have seen a lot of mini fruit but yours is amazing and looks more real than the others ! I love the pale colours of the apples and with the stones showing, what a great idea, would fantastic on a banquet table ! Huibrecht must love this ! Huggss Mrs M
