Mijn favoriete bloemen….aan een struik? / My favorite flowers…..on a shrub?

Zoals velen van jullie weten zijn mijn favoriete bloemen de boeren pioenrozen, ik heb ze zelf ook in mijn bloementuin, kijk maar:

Mijn pioenroos was de enige plant, die de ernstige droogte van vorig jaar overleefd heeft,  althans in mijn achtertuin. In mei van dit jaar bloeide ze prachtig mooi met voor het eerst 19 bloemen, maar de laatste regenbui vernietigde alle bloemen in een dag. Geeft niet: het was een groot feest om toch nog drie dagen ervan genoten te hebben, nu moet ik tot volgend jaar wachten ;)!

Een hele poos geleden kreeg ik van iemand het verzoek: of het mogelijk was of ik een pioenrozenstruik kon maken. Het betrof een speciaal soort pioenroos, die eigenlijk meer lijkt op een flinke heester. Ik weet niet de officiële naam van dit soort plant en ik heb het ook niet op het internet kunnen vinden.

Nadat ik nog wat informatie en foto’s had gekregen, ben ik in mei hiermee aan de slag gegaan.

My peony plant was the only one, who survived the severe drought of last summer, at least in my backyard. Last of May she bloomed gorgeous with for the first time 19 flowers, but after three days the last rainfall destroyed all flowers in just one day. Didn’t matter: it was one big party to enjoy for only three days these big flowers, now I have to wait until next year ;)!

Quite a while ago I got a request from someone: would it be possible if I could make a peony shrub. It concerned a special kind of peony, which looks more like a large shrub. I don’t know the official name of this plant and I also couldn’t find more information about it on the internet.

After I got some more information and pictures from my client, I started this work in May.

Eerst heb ik wat losse pioenrozen gemaakt, met kleurverloop vanuit het hart van de bloem naar de buitenste bloembladeren toe.

First I made some loose peonies, with color gradient from the heart of the flower to the outer petals.

Nadat de bloemen aan de takken waren bevestigd, kwamen de bladeren aan de beurt. Ik weet niet precies hoeveel ik er met de hand geknipt heb: véél!!

After the flowers were attached tot he branches, the leaves had to be cut. I don’t know exactly how many leaves I’ve cut by hand, but it were many leaves!!

Al doende leek het me leuk om er ook een knop aan te maken, zie boven.

While I was busy working I thought it would be nice to make a flower bud too, see above.

Na het bevestigen van heel veel blaadjes, zag de plant er zó uit.

Na overleg met de opdrachtgever bleek dat de plant in eigen bloempot zou gaan. Prima, daarom heb ik de struik dus tijdelijk in stevig foam vastgezet, ter bescherming.

Maar ergens vond ik het niets dat die struik in het schuim naar de opdrachtgeefster zou gaan, dus heb ik er iets meer geschikts op verzonnen….

After consultation with the client it turned out that the plant would go in an own flower pot of the client. Fine, that's why I temporarily secured the bush in sturdy foam, for protection.

But somewhere I didn't like the idea that the shrub would go in the foam to the client, so I've made something more suitable....

….een worteldoek om een kluit, waarin de plant staat. De plant kan op die manier (zonder schade) uit de worteldoek met kluit gepakt worden om in een eigen pot “overgeplant” te worden. Ik hoop dat ze het leuk vindt ;) ?!

…. a root cloth around a root ball, in which the plant can stand. This way the plant can be taken out of the root cloth (without damage) to be "planted again" in its own pot. I do hope she likes it ;) ?!

Hier zie je het worteldoek dichterbij, en al zie je die niet: er zit een echte wortelkluit in. 

Ik zie nu dat het snel extra water nodig heeft, het is hier ook zo heet ;O!

I see it quickly needs some extra water, it’s sooo hot here ;O!

Ik hoop dat iedereen een beetje bestand is tegen de hitte, die momenteel West-Europa teistert?

Hier, in Nederland, gaat de temperatuur gelukkig weer terug naar normale zomerwaarden, blij toe, want deze hittegolf richt hier in mijn regio nog meer schade aan, dan dat er al is.

I hope you all survived the severe heat wave, which is now tormenting big parts of West of Europe? Here, in The Netherlands, the temperatures are going back a bit to normal values, I’m glad, because this heat wave is damaging my regio even more than it already was.

Passend bij de hete temperaturen van deze week / Suitable for this week's hot temperatures

Vanwege de hitte hier in mijn streek, alleen even wat foto’s van een takje met olijfjes in miniatuur.

Because of the heat here in my region, just a few pictures of a small branch of olives in miniature.

Borden en kommetje zijn gemaakt door Marike Schenning, zij verkoopt haar miniaturen op shows en beurzen. Ik houd van de matte look van dit terracotta bord.

Plates and bowl are made by Marike Schenning, she sells her miniatures on shows and fairs.

I love the matte look of this terracotta plate.

Je kunt het bijna niet zien, maar er zitten behoorlijk veel blaadjes en olijven aan.

Sorry, voor de slechte kwaliteit van de foto’s, dat heeft te maken met het schelle daglicht.

You nearly can’t see it, but there are quite some tiny leaflets and olives at it.

Sorry, for the poor quality of the pictures, that has to do with the bright daylight.

We zullen zien wat het zomerweer ons deze week zal brengen, maar voor mij persoonlijk belooft het niet veel goeds: het weerbericht zegt dat er een hittegolf op weg is hier naar toe. Het betreft een hete luchtstroom in de stratosfeer, direct vanuit Afrika naar het westelijke deel van Europa, die dus een flinke hittegolf veroorzaakt, en ook hier in Nederland.

Het spijt me, ik wil echt niet klagen en ik hoop positief te blijven, maar na mijn ervaringen van vorige zomer en vanwege mijn gezondheidsproblemen bij hoge temperaturen zal dat nou juist behoorlijk moeilijk zijn.

We’ll see what the summer weather will bring us this coming week, but for me in person it doesn't promise any good: the weather forecast says there's a heatwave on its way. It concerns a hot air stream in the stratosphere, rightaway from Africa to the western part of Europe, which is causing a severe heatwave, and also here, in The Netherlands.

I'm sorry, I really don't want to complain and I hope to stay positive, but after my bad experiences of last summer and due to my health issues during high temperatures that will be quite difficult.

Aan deze stripfiguren moest ik denken, terwijl ik bezig was om mini olijfjes te maken van Fimoklei. Tja, een mens zijn/haar gedachten gaan vaak alle kanten op tijdens het maken van miniaturen, hè ;)?!

I had to think of these cartoon characters, while I was busy in making miniature olives, out of Fimo clay. Ah you know, one’s thought can jump to everywhere when you’re making miniatures, isn’t it ;)?!

Terwijl ik zo bezig was heb ik geprobeerd een paar van deze mini olijfjes op een mini cocktail prikker (gemaakt van bamboe, welke in smallere stukjes is gesneden met een hobby mes) te steken. Dat viel nog niet mee om te doen, die olijfjes zijn zó klein: 1 mm breed x 3 mm lang. Maar voor de olijfjes op de foto’s is het gelukt :).

Whilst I was busy, I tried to prick some of these mini olives on a mini cocktail stick (made of bamboo, which is cut up with a hobby knife into smaller parts). It was not easy to do, because thse olives are sooo tiny: 1 mm wide x 3 mm long. But just for the olives on the pictures I managed to do it :).

Voor het maken van deze bovenstaande foto’s heb ik een graankorrel geplet, zodat de olijfjes erop konden liggen.

For taking these pictures above, I've crushed a wheat grain, so that the olives could lie on it.

In het schaaltje zit de reflectie van daglicht, het is niet beschadigd ;)

You see the reflection of daylight in the bowl, it's not damaged ;)

En hup, alle 6 samen in een prachtig, piepklein schaaltje (diameter is 10 mm), en gemaakt door Marike Schenning.

Mmmm lekker, Bossche bollen, of.....? / Mmmm yummy, “Bosch balls”, or….?

Ze lijken er wel wat op, maar ze zijn het niet, daar zijn ze toch echt te klein voor ;)!

Nee, het zijn mijn ‘vers’ gemaakte kastanjes, die jullie hier zien ;O.

Ze zijn gemaakt van Fimoklei en daarna beschilderd met acrylverf en gevernist.

No, these are my ‘fresh’ made chestnuts, which you see here ;O.

They're made of Fimo clay and than painted with acrylic paint and glazed.

De kastanje tak van bovenstaande foto’s kunnen jullie eerder, in november, hier op mijn blog hebben gezien. Hij heeft nu gezelschap gekregen van een nieuw gemaakte kastanje tak en wat kastanjes, in bolster en wat losse.

You would have seen earlier this chestnut branch of the above pictures, here on my blog, in last November. Now he has got company of an other, newmade, chestnut branch and some chestnuts, in a husk and loose ones.

Hier kunnen jullie de kastanjes en (open en dichte) bolsters wat beter zien. 

De kastanjes zijn ongeveer 2-3 mm in diameter.

Here you can see better the chestnuts and (open and closed) husks.

The chestnuts are about 2-3 mm in diameter.

Samen in een mooie, houten vaas, die ik cadeau heb gekregen van mijn lieve blogvriendin, Birgit, nogmaals dank, jouw vaas past nu perfect bij deze takken :D

@ Sherrill: you asked of what material I make my miniature flowers and plants? 

I use silk flower paper and floral wire for making them, the coloring process is my own invention and I keep it secret. Sorry, I hope you do understand?

Accessoires werden gemaakt door mij 

Accessories were made by me

In januari kwam ik op de poppenhuisbeurs in Houten bij (althans voor mij) een nieuwkomer in de miniatuurwereld. Ze maakt 3D geprinte miniaturen, onder andere meubels, dit is haar website: https://www.dollhousedesign.nl/  

Ik heb toen onderstaande witte lockerkast en een ‘stalen’ bureau gekocht en nu heb ik ze bewerkt met krijtverf:

On the miniatures fair in Houten (The Netherlands) I came across a newcomer (at least she was for me) in the world of miniatures. She creates 3D printed miniatures, inter alia furniture, this is her website: https://www.dollhousedesign.nl/  

It was than that I bought this white locker cabinet and a ‘metal’ desk below and now I’ve edited them with chalk paint:

Een beetje tuinman/vrouw heeft toch een soort van werktafel en kast om zijn/haar spullen in te bewaren, niet waar, dus ook in het miniatuur ;). In ieder geval was het voor mij een goede start om terug te gaan naar het maken van planten/bloemen in miniatuur.

Every gardener does have a sort of work table and cupboard for storing his/her tools in, isn’t it, so also one in miniature ;). Anyhow, for me it was a good start for going back in making plants/flowers in miniature.

Als eerste heb ik een kleine geranium gemaakt en dat geplant in een piepklein terracotta potje (gekocht bij Lisbeth Pedersen, zij was aanwezig op de 1 zu 12 Messe in Rheda, Duitsland).

Firstly I made a small geranium and I planted it in a terracotta flower pot (bought from Lisbeth Pedersen, she attended the 1zu12 Messe in Rheda, Germany).

Oké, dat was nummer één, nog veel te gaan, als ik zo al die potjes hier zie staan ;O.

De plastic kratten zijn ook gekocht bij dollhousedesign.nl.

Okay, that’s number one, lots to go, as I here see all these flower pots ;O.

The plastic crates are also bought from dollhousedesign.nl. 

Ook heb ik een stekje van een geranium gemaakt, zo eentje die in een glas water staat om te ‘wortelen’. Glas is gekocht bij The Little Dollhouse Company uit Canada, zij stonden ook in Rheda, Duitsland, op de show.

Maar een kaal plantje, of stekje, is zo saai, dan maar bloemen eraan gemaakt, staat toch leuker, hè?

I also made a cutting from a geranium, one which is standing for some time in a glass of water for ‘getting’ roots. The glass is bought from The Little Dollhouse Company from Canada, they also exhibited at the show in Rheda, Germany.

But a bare plant, or cutting, is so boring, so I also made a few flowers, that looks more nice, don’t you think?

De lange winterstop met het maken van planten heeft me goed gedaan: ik heb er echt weer zin in, eens kijken wat het volgende zal worden J!
