De miniatuur kerstboom versieren / Decorating the Christmas tree in miniature

Finally, I can show you here something new in miniature: Christmas decoration in miniature!
I’ve been working on it for weeks now, it’s namely quite timeconsuming to work that small, but I did it :)!

In this blogpost I’ll show you two sets of Christmas baubles of 4 mm in diameter.
One set baubles in silver, and one in gold.

First I made the boxes, they measure 15 x 15 mm and are 5 mm in height. The lids are slightly wider 16 x 16 mm, one is decorated with a Christmas stocking (nail art sticker), for the other one I used a very old paper punch of Christmas bells, PLUS two holly leaflets on the corners (also nail art stickers). Behind the open part I glued a tiny piece of transparant plastic (from a packaging), so that you can see the baubles lieing in the tissue paper.

Each box is divided in segments, made of very thin cardboard, so that it can hold 9 Christmas balls of 4 mm diameter. Each opening got a 10 x 10 mm sheet of tissue paper in it, to protect the Christmas bauble from bumping/breaking.

Here you can see the baubles closeby, the pictures are extremely enlarged.

In every box are 5 common baubles AND 4 painted baubles with a top of snow, I hope you can see it…?

While I was using these nail art stickers, I came up with the idea of copying in miniature my own glass Christmas decorations in RL. For this I used a plastic sheet (model trains store), a round model paper punch (of 5 mm in diameter) and covered it with two golden snowflakes.

The plastic heart and star are respectively painted with gold and silver colored nail polish, but you can't see it well on the pictures. I don’t know how come..?

Here you see the silver baubles, hanging on a 1:1 hook for reallife Christmas baubles. For doing this, I had to make new miniature hooklets (see the yellow arrow on the picture), because the 1:12 hooklets didn’t fit on the 1:1 hook, they were too small ;O)!
The 1:12 hooklets are in a tiny paper envelope/bag together with the Christmas baubles in the box.

Here are two decoration pieces, which probably will not be known by some of my foreign readers, these are named in Dutch "piek", but unfortunately I can't find the English word for these pieces. Anyway, they go in the top of the Christmas tree, where the most of you will put the star, or an angel. The golden "piek" has also got a nail art sticker, as decoration ;). All "pieken" are in between 18-20mm in length.

Ooh, one fell and is broken, well, it IS Friday the 13th, isn't it ;O) ?!

I’m still making more Christmas decorations, you’ll see it soon!
Last week I found in my own garden a sort of “Christmas decoration”, for free of Mother Nature, isn’t it beautiful?!
Thank you for your kind comments, have a nice weekend!

What beautiful (and tiny) Christmas ornaments. I love that you even made divided boxes to store them. We call the decorative piece for the top of the tree a “topper.”

Your boxed Christmas ornaments and the tree topper ornaments are Superb, Ilona! Nail art, hand-painting, and paper punches, have made valuable contributions to your Delightful holiday collection and I hope that you will make some for display on a mini tree as well!
and by the way, having the mini fragments of the broken ornament by the box, is an experience which I think we can All relate to!
Merry Christmas To YOU, Ilona! :D

Oh, your tree ornaments are stunning! I love the boxes and yes making tiny bits is a time-consuming job. Nail art for tiny items is very useful. My hairdresser/manicurist who is one of the admirers of my work (people here are not acquainted with miniature artists like you Ilona.} gave me tiny nail art butterflies which I'll soon glue to my mini flowers.
Enjoy your weekend!
Hugs, Drora

Your Christmas Baubles are stunning, Ilona. I believe that 'piek' could be translated to something like pinnacle, but we would probably just call it a 'tree topper'. I'm so happy that you had the time to make a miniature, and time to walk outdoors and see Nature's decorations.

These ornaments are a tiny wonder to behold, and I bet miracles were performed in handling the microscopic parts and pieces! The boxes couldn't be more perfect in delicacy and scale! As always in all you do, they are perfection!

Dear Ilona,
I just knew you would make something exquisite to go in your boxes and you did. How interesting with the 'peak' tree topper. They are very beautiful and I can only imagine how stunning they must look at the top of the tree.

To say it in the word of a song by Bryan Adams: "There's something about Christmas time..." Yes, it really is, because it comes along with wonderful posts like this featuring the most stunning Christmas ornaments with accessories I've ever seen in miniature. It made me smile that you even thought of the S-hooks, that's so you… because you never forget any detail. Speaking of details… the broken bauble really made me laugh, well, it's not Christmas time until the first glass bauble broke. Believe it or not, but the very first glass ball I was taken out of my box fell down and into pieces.

I'm still in awe with the perfect hooks your baubles have and the snow details on some baubles bring back memories of old times. Here in Germany those Christmas toppers are also very common, but okay, we have started the tradition of glass ornaments for Christmas. *grin* We have a red one since I can remember - even with snow details! ;O)
