Het irritante gaatje in het babymutsje… / The annoying tiny hole in the baby bonnet…

…dat was iets wat ik écht niet mooi vond, want zoiets blijf je straks ook steeds zien in het babykijkkastje, ook nadat het klaar is, toch? Dus hoe moest ik dat gaatje nu laten verdwijnen? Misschien een eigenwijs pomponnetje erop, staat leuk EN het gaatje is weggewerkt...

 

…that was something I absolutely did not like, because you'll keep seeing something like that in the baby roombox, also after it's finished, right? So how was I supposed to make this tiny hole disappear? Maybe by putting a quirky pompom on it, looks nice AND the hole is definetly covered...

Dus ik aan de slag, op de ouderwetse manier: (twee identieke) kleine rondjes van stevig papier geponst, eerst een gaatje van 3,5 mm (een kleinere maat pons had ik niet) en precies daaromheen (het 3,5 mm gaatje in het midden) heb ik een gaatje geponst van 6,5 mm in diameter, zie foto. Deze maat was te groot voor dit pietepeuterige mutsje maar ik moest absoluut iets aan dat irritante gaatje doen!

 

So I got to work, the old fashioned way: (two identical) small circles of sturdy paper punched, first a hole of 3.5 mm (I didn't have a smaller size punch) and right around that (the 3.5 mm hole in the middle) I punched out a hole of 6.5 mm in diameter, see photo. This size was too big for this tiny bonnet but I absolutely had to do something about that annoying hole!

 

Ik heb hetzelfde gemerceriseerde katoenen naaigaren gebruikt als voor het sjaaltje, dan wordt het een setje, althans dat was mijn bedoeling…

 

I used the same mercerized cotton sewing thread as for the scarf, so it becomes a set, at least that was my intention…

Ik heb de draad in een fijne naainaald gedaan en ben vanuit het midden begonnen met de draad om de kartonnetjes te wikkelen. Wat ’n klus: ik kon het kartonnetje van goed 6 mm bijna niet vasthouden, loslaten was geen optie dan ging het naaigaren “een eigen leven leiden”.

Dus moest ik na elke slag om het kartonnetje rijgen, het garen vasthouden met duim en wijsvinger EN ook nog eens kijken WAT ik eigenlijk aan het doen was. Dit ging dus twee keer fout, de derde keer is wat jullie hier zien, pffffff.

 

I'v put the thread in a fine sewing needle and started wrapping the thread around the cardboard from the middle. What a job: I could hardly hold on to the cardboard of about 6 mm, letting go was not an option because then the sewing thread would “live a life of its own”.

So after each turn, I had to thread around the tiny piece of cardboard, hold the thread with thumb and index finger AND also look WHAT I was actually doing. So this went wrong twice, the third time is what you see here, pfew.

Na hier en daar ietsjes bij knippen en nadat ik de pompon in het midden mooi vol en dicht gekregen had, kwam deze op het mutsje, nu ben ik tevreden over hoe de baby muts eruit ziet 😊.
 
After a just a tiny bit of trimming here and there and after I had made the pompom in the middle nice and full and dense, it went on the baby bonnet. Now I am happy with how the baby bonnet looks 😊.

Het staat nu parmantig op de commode in de babykamer te wachten...samen met een paar babyslofjes. Deze babyslofjes heb ik ongeveer 10 jaar geleden al gehaakt voor een opdracht, dus dat kwam mooi uit.
 
It now stands proudly on the dresser in the nursery...along with a pair of baby booties. I crocheted these baby booties about 10 years ago for a commission, so that was good luck.

Vorig weekeinde, voordat mijn kleindochter was geboren, heb ik het theater bezocht samen met mijn dochter en kleinzoon. We hebben de theatervoorstelling genaamd “Warboels Sinterklaasfeest” gezien, het was grote lol en aan het eind hebben we ook nog Sinterklaas gezien, die op bezoek kwam! Mijn kleinzoon was helemaal door het dolle heen, wat een feest, dus mijn dochter en ik hebben ook zoooo genoten!
Ik moet helaas de privacy van  mijn (klein)kinderen respecteren, dus hier geen foto’s van de kleinkinderen op mijn blog, dan maar eentje met een Sinterklaas printje eroverheen.
 
Last weekend, before my granddaughter was born, I went to the theater with my daughter and grandson. We saw the theater performance called “Warboels Sinterklaasfeest”, it was great fun and at the end we also saw Sinterklaas, who came to visit! My grandson was completely crazy, what a party, so also my daughter and I enjoyed it soooo much!
Unfortunately I have to respect the privacy of my (grand)children, therefore no pictures of the grandchildren on my blog, so I'll just put one with a Sinterklaas print over his happy face.

Inmiddels ben ik bijna klaar met de samenstelling van het baby kijkkastje, dus nog heel eventjes wachten voor het resultaat, ik hoop tot gauw!
