sigarenkistjes, waarin verschillende soorten sigaren lagen.
eentje in mijn mini boerderij komen.
So when in July I was allowed to start again with light mini
work, I bought some kits from Sun Lemmens, www.nalladris.nl
including these delicious speculaas cookies. More information about what “speculaas”
is meant to be: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speculaas
Just a coat or two of paint on them and they looked
delicious ready to bite into. Then I thought back to those Sunday afternoons on
the farm, when many family members met there, it was a coming and going of
family and friends/neighbours.
We children were soon sent outside to play, or if it rained,
to play in the stables.
Hide and seek was our favourite because of the many hiding
places that the farm (and especially the stables) had. When we got tired we
came back inside to see the adults sitting there in a cloud of cigarettes and
cigar smoke. Many people smoked at that time, grandpa and my father a cigar,
but grandma and my mother NOT fortunately.
To present a cigar in the past you often used special cigar
boxes, in which different types of cigars were placed. I also found those
typical cigar boxes in the webshop of Sun Lemmens last summer, so there had to
be one in my miniature farmhouse.
roken!
It is a very detailed box, see for yourself. You have to
paint the cigars and the box yourself, but I think it turned out quite well. I
"smoked" for myself a half smoked cigar, because nothing was wasted.
Everything cost much money (even then) so if the cigar was not smoked, it was
carefully extinguished to smoke it further at a later time!
Collecting cigar bands (included in the kit) was all the
rage back then, so we did this too!
In the meantime I have started with the baby laundry (more
about that later on) and making some nice things for my upcoming grandchild who
will be born in a few weeks. So I can't show much now, except for these kind of
small things, the rest (for the baby) will come later here on my blog.
Thank you for reading my blog and for your much appreciated
comments, till later on!

Dear Ilona, your tales of the Farm fascinate me! Is that little girl in the pictures you? To ride bikes so far when so young must have been very challenging.... no wonder there were cookies for reward!
The cigar box is amazingly detailed and the cigars, I am sure, probably smell just like "real " ones.... they look so real! :):) Those cookies also look so delicious... and they are so tiny!
Congratulations on the coming grandchild... I will look forward to hearing the news! :):):)
I almost forgot... did you knit that tiny baby hat???? Wow!
Besos.
What a great post, souvenirs and stories about the farm and your family and lovely miniatures. Everything I love about your blog and posts.
