Het “Kerstdebat” / The Christmas “debate”

                                  

Deze oude foto, genomen begin jaren ‘60, is gemaakt tijdens het kerstspel op de kleuterschool. Ik mocht een engel zijn en het deed me denken aan het vele oefenen wat wij toen met de hele klas hebben gedaan. En met 45!! leerlingen (van 4-6 jaar oud) in de klas en één onderwijzeres kwamen er natuurlijk ook flink wat ouders naar ons kijken.

 

This old photo, taken in the early 1960s, was taken during the pre-school Christmas play. I was allowed to be an angel and it reminded me of the many practice we did with the whole class at the time. And with 45!! pupils (from 4-6 years old) in the classroom and just one teacher, of course, a lot of parents came to watch us.

Omdat Kleine Ikke ook die leeftijd heeft en mij moet voorstellen toen ik vroeger klein was, heb ik voor haar een engelenkleed gemaakt met gouden biezen langs de mouwen en de zoom. Ook heeft ze, net als mij op de oude foto, een gouden bies om haar haren.

Kleine Ikke wilde graag dat Schepje de rol van de belangrijkste engel speelde, de engel met de gouden ster, maar daar dacht Schepje toch eventjes anders over. Hij wilde graag koning zijn want hij vond die gouden kroon zo mooi. Omdat er verder geen vriendjes in de buurt waren, mocht hij een van de drie koningen als rol spelen. Deze afgelopen week waren ze op de deel van de boerderij aan het oefenen voor het kerstspel van deze avond, de koeien in hun stal en schapen keken toe. Tussendoor werd er flink gedebatteerd over hoe het moest en wie wat zou moeten zeggen……we zullen vanavond gaan zien of het goed zal gaan ;).

 

Because Little Me is also of that age, and represents me when I used to be little, I sewed an angel dress for her with gold piping along the sleeves and the hem. Also, like me in the old photo, she has a gold trim around her hair.

Little Me wanted Schepje to play the role of the most important angel, the angel with the gold star, but Schepje thought differently about that. He wanted to be king because he thought that golden crown was so beautiful. Since there were no other friends around, he was allowed to play the role of one of the three kings. This past week they were practicing in the stable part of the farm for the Christmas play in Kindergarten of this evening, the cows in their stable and sheep were watching. In the meantime there was a lot of debate about how it should be done and who should say what ......we will see if it will go well tonight ;).

Schepje en ik werden afgelopen zondag, de vierde Advent, nog verrast door kadootjes van Birgit. Kijk eens wat we in ons pakje voor deze dag aantroffen: knutselspulletjes, een heerlijke doos marsepein (Birgit weet dat ik daar dol op ben) én een prachtig zelfgemaakt klein huisje met kerstversieringen. Schepje is er helemaal mee in de wolken!! Lieve Birgit, nogmaals hartelijk dank voor deze prachtige Advents kadootjes, we zijn er erg blij mee!

Last Sunday, the 4th of Advent, Schepje and I were surprised by presents from Birgit. See here what we found in our package for this day: craft supplies, a delicious box of marzipan (Birgit knows I love that very much) and a beautiful selfmade little house with Christmas decorations. Schepje is completely over the moon with this tiny treasure!! Dearest Birgit, thank you again for these beautiful Advent gifts, we all are very happy with them!

De rol van baby Jezus werd met verve gespeeld door het kleine beertje, waarmee ik afgelopen maandag mee werd verrast. Pilar heeft mij deze kadootjes toegezonden, hele mooie miniboeken, een mini theater, stickers, een kussentje en het prachtig gehaakte kleine beertje met kleertjes aan. Samen met een doos heerlijke nougat kwam het met de postbode mee: wat een heerlijke verrassing! Lieve Pilar, nogmaals bedankt voor deze prachtige kadootjes, ik ben er heel bij mee!!

The role of baby Jesus was starred by this little bear, by whom I was surprised last Monday. Pilar has sent me these lovely gifts: very beautiful mini books, a mini theater, stickers, a pillow and the beautifully crocheted little bear with lovely tiny clothes on. Together with a box of delicious nougat, it came with the postman: what a wonderful surprise! Dearest Pilar, thank you once again for these beautiful gifts, I am very happy with it all!!

En met deze vrolijke sneeuwpop, die ik heb gemaakt voor Birgits moeder, wil ik iedereen fijne feestdagen toewensen, zorg goed voor elkaar en jezelf en denk aan de Corona-maatregelen!! Wij vieren Kerstmis hier alleen en thuis, maar mijn kinderen en kleinzoon zien we tijdens een video chat, dus online. Wij maken er het beste van, ik hoop dat veel meer mensen hieraan zullen denken. Blijf veilig en gezond, denk aan anderen.

And with this merry snowman, which I made for Birgits Mom, I wish everyone happy holidays, take good care of each other and yourself and think of the Corona measures!! Here we celebrate Christmas alone and at home, but we'll see my children and grandson during a video chat, so online. We make the best of it, I hope many more people will think of this too.
