Warm aangekleed / Dressed warmly

Since Little Me is a permanent resident of my mini farm, which is decorated as it looked in the 50s, I made for her a specific (monty)coat, it’s made by hand. It was delicate (detailed) work, because the jacket measures just 4,5 cm long and 3 cm wide (measured without the hood!)
This kind of coat was worn a lot in the years after the WWII worn.

And yes, there is mud on the boots, she lives on a farm, right ?!

I also made a warm shawl and a pair of rubber wellies (from Fimo clay) for her, they always come in handy now that winter is approaching. In rain and snow and in combination with thick wool stockings, she keeps her feet nicely warm.
These wellies are a bit too big, but they're also made with a view to growing requirements. Also because in the past it was quite common that you got the old wellies of your older sibling's. That's to say if they weren't too much wornout, and not too smooth because the profile was worn off.  So back then you got a good wad of cotton in the front of the toe of the 'new' boot and you could wear them again for awhile ;O).

Since Little Me wears regular tiny shoes, which are glued to her feet, I came up with the idea to make her 'new lower legs'. First I made the boots (Fimo clay), which are more than half hollowed out. In it I glued the new lower legs, which I first provided with children tights, because in the winter it is too cold to walk outside with bare legs…..

….now Little Me can change legs with the seasons ;O).
At the picture above you can clearly see the difference in size between the boots and her shoes.

Here, in close up, you can see better the specific closure of this coat.

Okay, my little girl is now dressed warmly and ready to go out. Where to is she going, you ask?
More about this in a next blog post.
Stay safe and take good care of each other!
Thank you for your kind comments, have a nice weekend!

Lol! I just love the interchangeable legs for your mini me. Her coat looks so snuggly and her child-like poses are very fun. Nice work!

Besos.

In my family I was the oldest. So I got hand-me-downs from my older cousins. Then they got passed to my little sister. And if boots were too big...well, double up on the socks and they'll fit.

The wellies look wonderful! I love the mud on the bottom.

Dear Ilona,
Little you is looking so cozy warm and super cute in her new warm coat and boots. I love the idea of just 'changing your legs' with the seasons LOL.
Your little creations are (as always) such an inspiration to what can be achieved in this tiny scale. Thank you as always.
Stay safe and well.

Dear Ilona, Little You with the changeable legs (what an incredible idea) looks so very cute and cozy inside her warm coat. I was the eldest sibling and got my shoes new but always a few sizes larger so they'll last longer while my feet grow.
I love your work on these winter clothes. Beautiful and stunning as ever.
Stay safe!
Hugs, Drora

Little you is indeed dressed warmly, the coat is just perfect and I like the mud on the boots. What an excellent idea to have two pairs of legs. I can't wait to read your next post, will she go and see animals?
Stay safe

Bises.

The duffle-coat and the boots are really successful.

Did I ever tell you before that you are incredible??? ;O) What an amazing work - the dufflecoat is stunning in every wayl. And why am I not surprised that you even managed to add those typical wooden "knob-buttons"??? The way you've made this is awesome - and so is the idea of legs changing to the season. This is sooooo you... very clever. And so realistic of having boots being too big... and of course with mud on.

The photos of Little You cozy and warm in her coat with the hoodie on are priceless. And now I wonder what she is up to - if I was her wearing such a wonderful and warm outfit being perfect for adventures... well, leaf pile hopping would be coming to my mind. ;O)

Hugs

Your mini you is ready for Winter!!! Love the coat and the boots and even more the story behind them.
I think your idea of interchangeable legs and shoes is terrific and sooo clever!! And what about all those little details you never miss, bigger shoes, the coat button, the mud, the piece of cotton in the toe part, etc!! You are amazing!!!

Dear Ilona, you have gotten Way ahead of me in the past few days! I can't keep up!!! The coat you made for "Little you" is adorable!! And she is so happy in her boots and climbing around on the spool of thread... what beautiful pictures! And I remember coats with the "toggle" fasteners! Mine was navy blue! :) Your method of changing her shoes to boots is a little like my seasonal garden pods...!!! :):):)
