Uitgebloeide zonnebloemen / Withered sunflowers

Personally, I think that all of our seasons have their own beauty, so including autumn. Take withered plants, for instance, when they emerge and bloom each of them are beautiful in their kind, but when they are withered, they can have a "stilled" beauty. That is also how I think of these sunflowers, especially those large, tall and withered sunflowers that are now in many gardens or farm yards, bent towards the soil, or sometimes even already fallen to the ground. These sunflowers are grown for their seeds.
I made two of these sunflowers in mini, ofwhich you already saw the first one here on my blog. And here is the second sunflower with still a bit more of green shades in the foliage.
Here are some pictures:

And here down under they are together on the pictures:

When you say 'still life of sunflowers', you say Vincent van Gogh.
That's why I did an attempt to photograph them against a background of midnight blue velvet ...

Inktzwammen (Coprinus comatus)

Grote Parasolzwammen (Macrolepiota procera)

Seen from above it looks like a mushroom village

Hallo dames, waarop zij zeiden: BOOOOEEEEE, tja, het is bijna Halloween ;O)
Hello ladies, onwhich they answered: BOOOOOOOOOO, yes, it's nearly Halloween ;O)

Despite all extra measures that have been taken because of the Corona virus, we are allowed to go outside for just a while. I like to take advantage of this by going on a small bike ride on the countryside around here.
There is currently to be seen a lot of beauty in nature, especially on the countryside. There are now many mushrooms to be seen, but also trees with their leaves in cheerful autumn color, geese and other migratory birds crossing on their way south and so on. Here also the swallows have started their journey to the far warm south, after weeks of practicing (gathering groups on barbed wire around the meadows and together with their youngsters from this year).
The cows can finally go outside during the day, because after an early harvest the farmers have sown their fields and bare, withered pastures with grass seeds. Now, after just a little rain, the grass seed is rising and some meadows are starting to get a bit greener again. Before they are back in the stable all winter, the ladies can go outside for a while, and in the evening they are fed extra by the farmer.

At the forest I came across this beautiful specimen, unfortunately without the well-known white dots ;O)

Vliegenzwammen /  Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria)

For those of you, who are still allowed to go outside, enjoy it for a while, because I suspect that we are entering a long dark winter time, especially now that the virus has gripped large parts of the world. Enjoy the little things in life, look well around you and try to stay positive, no matter how difficult it will be: you're not alone.
Stay safe and healthy, do also think about others, especially now and take good care of each other and yourself!!
Thank you for your kind comments, have a nice weekend.

Dear Ilona,
Incredible mini withered sunflowers! Fascinating work!
We too are confined to our homes. But these are the only measures of protecting ourselves against the virus. Wearing masks is obligatory here.
Keep safe!
Hugs, Drora

Dear Ilona, thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures of your region... the mushrooms and fields and the cows! It helps to know that the world is "going on" as usual in so many places... birds are migrating, leaves are changing color, and farmers are doing their work every day. We have this here too. It is comforting to know that not everything is failed and broken! Yes, it might be a long hard winter coming, but we have hope that with care and safe precautions we can make it through to better times!
And your mini withered sunflowers are just exceptional in every way possible! I don't know how you do it! You are an Artist in everything you touch! I love the autumn landscape for that fading beauty... nostalgic and brief as it is. You have captured it perfectly with your gone-to seed sunflowers! Keep safe, and keep making minis! :):)

Dear Ilona, like you I find a certain beauty in withered flowers and you have captured is so perfectly in your mini sunflowers.
We are in the middle of spring in South Australia so it is lovely to see the late summer photos of the area where you live. We are so lucky to live on 'a mighty big island a very long way from everywhere else' and therefore the pandemic is no longer a big problem here, except we can't travel anywhere.
Please stay well and take care,
Hugs,
Anna

I enjoy your series about sunflowers so much... The withered ones are outstanding in any way and once more I must point out that your artistry shows especially in the details on the back of the flowers. Realistic in EVERY detail!

Take good care of yourself - and I too suppose there's a long dark winter waiting for us. But we need to stay positive - and in our case we can be thankful for our hobby. Take good care of yourself - and enjoy your rides through nature. The mushrooms are fascinating!

Your withered sunflowers are beautiful, Ilona, and I loved the pictures of the mushrooms.
Here in South Africa, we had extreme lockdown from autumn and through the winter. With seasons reversed, we've already gone through what you're experiencing for the first time now. Lockdown during winter has its compensations. Instead of continuing to work into the evening like I usually do, I started leaving my studio at 5pm and sitting with Henning. Sometimes reading, sometimes working on a small project in my lap while he watches TV and Youtube videos. In the middle of the morning when it wasn't too cold, I did some vigorous walking and stretching excercises in the garden (we weren't allowed outside our own gardens at all for two months) and I joined an online Pilates class. I didn't gain any weight despite eating for comfort and when you keep moving, your mood doesn't sink into darkness so easily. I'm happy to say it worked and despite the extra challenges this awful year has heaped on us, I coped with strict lockdown.
Now the lockdown has been relaxed and our infection rate is climbing at a tremendous rate. I don't believe that the virus is affected as much by the seasons as people think. We won't be able to have another strict lockdown; there simply aren't enough economic resources left in the country. Heaven knows how this wave of infection will end. We're being very careful and avoiding contact with the outside world as much as possible.
I hope that you manage to find a new routine and settle in for the winter while sheltering in place. And may the world find a solution to this virus soon!

Hoi Ilona,
