Nee, geen drive-through, maar een drive-moooo! / No, not a drive-thru, but a drive-moooo!

Je zult maar heel klein zijn en op Koningsdag de koeien willen zien en niet uit je huis mogen. Hoe ga je dat tijdens deze crisis als ouders voor je kleintje oplossen?

In de omgeving van waar mijn dochter woont, heeft een boer iets verzonnen om zijn ambachtelijk gemaakte ijs (van de melk van zijn eigen koeien) toch te kunnen verkopen. Hij mist door de crisis veel inkomen en is een drive-moooo (in 't Nederlands: boeeee!) begonnen. Eerst rijd je langs de open stallen, waarin de koeien staan. Daarna kom je uiteindelijk bij een caravan, die de boer heeft omgebouwd tot winkel, vanuit deze winkel loopt een hellend stuk van een dakgoot rechtstreeks naar de klanten, die in hun auto blijven zitten wachten tot de bestelling klaar is. Als je dan, na contactloos betalen, je ijsje via de dakgoot hebt ontvangen, kun je langs de weilanden vol koeien terug naar huis rijden. Is dat even leuk, als je nog geen twee jaar oud bent, maar wèl de koeien wilt zien in de stal en de wei?? Mijn kleinzoon van nog geen 2 jaar oud heeft enorm genoten van zijn uitje met zijn ouders, en ook vele andere kinderen, iedereen keurig in zijn eigen auto én op afstand!!

(Opmerking: een drive-through is een plaats, of voorziening, waar men kan worden bediend zonder de auto te verlaten)

If you are very little and on King’s Day you want to see the cows but you’re not allowed to go outdoors. How will you solve this problem for your little one during this pandemic?

In the region of where my daughter lives, a farmer has found a creative way of selling his artisanal farm ice cream (milk is delivered by his own cows). Due to the crisis he is missing a lot of income so he now has started a drive-moooo!, a sort of variant of the drive-through. First you drive slowly along the open stables, wherein the cows are. Then you end up with a caravan, which the farmer has converted into a ice cream shop, your put your order there and you have to pay contactless by bank card. The ordered ice cream is put in paper cups and on a sloping piece of gutter, which runs directly to the customers, who remain in their car waiting for their order to be ready. When you have received your ice cream order through the gutter, you can drive back home passing the meadows full of cows. Isn't that fun, if you are not yet two years old, but you want to see the cows in the stable and the meadows?? My grandson of less than 2 years old thoroughly enjoyed his visit to the farm with his parents, and also many other children, everyone neatly sitting in their own car and therfore keeping the required distance!!

Gele lijnen waren met stoepkrijt gezet, zodat je met iedereen op gepaste afstand kon praten.

Vele andere mensen hebben Koningsdag gevierd op een eigen wijze, bijv. bbq-en met buren, niet in tuinen maar op straat vanwege het warme, zonnige weer, ook ik. Het was heel leuk, en ieder van ons heeft zeer goed de afstand onderling in acht genomen vanwege de Coronavirus pandemie (zie foto’s, die wazig zijn gemaakt i.v.m. de privacy).

Hierdoor heb ik nu niet veel in miniatuur om te laten zien. Ik ben momenteel druk met het decoreren van nog wat miniatuur hoeden, die ik over een paar dagen zal laten zien.

Blijf gezond, wees voorzichtig en zorg goed voor anderen en jezelf.

Lots of other people celebrated King’s Day (27th of April) on their own way, for example bbq-ing with neighbours, not in gardens but on the street due to the warm, sunny weather, me too. It was very nice, and all of us were taking the correct distance due to the Corona virus measures (see all photos, which are blurred due to privacy). Therefore I don't have much in miniature to show today. I am currently busy decorating a few more hats in miniature, which I'll show you in a few days.
