Betoverend mooi / Enchantingly beautiful

In my childhood it was for me always a very special moment in winter, for finding the first snowdrops in our garden. Someone back than told me that the snowdrops could ring, like a real bell. But to my disappointment they never did this, but maybe they did, after I was gone out of the garden 😉? Anyway, I always thought that snowdrops are enchantingly beautiful, and especially when there was snow too…

A few weeks ago I had to think of my old garden, because around this time of the year there were always snowdrops in my garden. Unfortunately I’ve then lost the snowdrops and many of my other garden plants during the severe droughts in summer of 2018 and also of 2019.
It was a tricky job, the making of 14 snowdrops, but now they are ready for showing them on my blog.

The teeny tiny vase (10 mm in height) is made by Elisabeth Causeret.
Actually it is a vase in 1:48 scale 😉

Photographing the snowdrops was also quite a job, because they are so tiny and the color white tends to light up too much. Having an old photo camera it was not easy to still get some good pictures.

The snowdrops vary in length of 10-15 mm.

Now I am thinking about what I am going to do with these snowdrops: putting them in a vase, or in a large glass vase on foot, with snow and withered leaves around, or maybe in a "a dot of soil" so that they can be put in a miniature winter garden during the Christmas period.
What do you think…??

The snowdrops were just finished at the end of last week, when I got sick. I've got a serious respiratory infection, which's not quite handy if you make miniatures, because despite I'm feverish, I'm now coughing terribly. And before you ask: yes, I now can hear my mini snowdrops ringing 😉.
I'll try to keep following/reading your blogs, but don't blame me if I'll respond a little later than usual, okay?
Thank you for your kind comments, wishing you all a lovely week!

Oh, Ilona, sorry about your getting sick. I wish you a quick recovery. Do take good care of yourself.
The snow bells are flowers that we don't have here. Yours are so very delicate and beautiful. They look exquisite in the beautiful tiny flower pot.
A warm hug,
Drora

I hope you start feeling better soon. Coughing and minis do not go together. Relax and get well, we'll wait to hear from you.

I love the snow bells. They're absolutely beautiful.

Dear Ilona, I do hope you will be feeling better soon.
Your little snowdrops are just beautiful, so delicate and enchanting - just like the snowdrops poking through the snow in the garden.
I do think they ring, if you listen really carefully.
Hugs,

Beterchap!

I truly hope you'll get better soon. Like you I have always found snowdrops enchanting and they make me dream. Your miniature ones are fantastic. I think to put them in a "dot of soil" would be a great idea.

Your Snowdrops really are enchanting, Ilona. So sad that the drought has taken many plants away from us. Here in South Africa we're having a good rainy season after three years of bad drought and for the first time there's green grass all around my studio, it makes my mood so much better.
I wish you a quick recovery from the respiratory infection. Stay warm, drink lots of fluids, look after yourself!

I hope you get well very soon. The snowdrops leave me speechless ❤❤❤

Impossibly tiny and truly amazing! The colors look genuine and the old camera came through! I hope this summer is kinder for water and that you are able to start creating a new and better garden filled with real life inspiration!

Dear Ilona, Your snowdrops put my attempts completely to shame! (Mine are too too large and clumsy!) Clearly I am going to have to revisit my techniques! I was trying to use punches... they are not small enough! But yours are so inspiring.... I will have to try again! Beautiful work as always!!! :):)
And I truly hope your patch of snowdrops will recover from the drought!

Daydreamer zei

And I meant to add, that you must take care of yourself so you recover from your illness.... even if it means you won't hear the ringing of snowdrops any longer!

You are the Queen Bee of miniature flowers, Ilona of snowdrops and of everything else too!
Get well soon dear lady!

BiWuBär zei

Oh dearie… as I'm a bit late with my visit I can only hope that you've recovered a bit in the meantime from this nasty infection. Sounds so familiar to me in every point… my fingers are crossed that you'll get over it faster than I did with mine. Get well soon and take care of yourself!

And now to the snowdrops… like in your language we're also comparing them to bells in German. The reason is clear to see - and they really ring, believe me... but usually not audible for human ears. ;O) I've so enjoyed looking at your fantastic snowdrops, wonderful work as always, but these tiny, delicate flowers are extra special to me because in my opinion they are some kind of promise that there will be another spring. And although the humble ones I made for Bowler's icy home are in a planter I would really suggest to plant yours in soil. Snowdrops are not meant for indoors.

I hope you are better now, dear Ilona.
Your Snowdrops are perfect and so delicate. Great work, as always.

I do hope you are now feeling better. The perfect little snowdrops have cheered us all up as winter gets under way - I think they would look wonderful 'planted' but they are already wonderful in the vase. I hope you can replace the real ones you lost in tyour own garden.

Hoi Ilona,

Hi Ilona,
I do hope your health is improving. It is so tiring to be coughing all the time.
The snowbells - or snowdrops as we call them are perfect and fit so nicely in the little blue vase ... .but the potential! ..... snowdrops peeking through the soil etc ... oh how our minis can take us places.
I was looking at your chickens also - good job! I did laugh to see them sitting around the cooking pot. Nice to see the pic of our Grandmother. We had 12 weeks in the Netherlands in 2017 on our little boat and we learned so much by visiting the many museums or the struggles The Netherlands experienced.
I have had so much trouble leaving comments so glad I was able to do so this time.
All the best.
Warm regards Janine

From amazement to amazement! What gorgeous snowdrops ! One of my favorite flowers and they make me so happy when I see them coming up, a sign that winter is behind us ( mainly). I bought some mini flower kits, thinking 'how hard can it be' and during several hours I said some very bad words ! SO fiddly so my admiration is real ! Huggsss Mrs M
