First of all I want you to know that from now I’ll
watermarking my blog pictures. Because since a few weeks I have noticed that,
just like Brae ( http://www.otterine.com/blog/blog1.php/buzz-kill
) I have an extremely number of pageviews. I can see on my blog dash board that
my blog is ‘promoted’ on lots of (for me) unknown foreign strange websites.
Probably I’m also one of the ‘victims’, like Brae. So please, click on the
above link and read her blog, where this is all about and you will understand
why I’ll marking my pictures. I don’t think it won’t help much, but still…..
Well, that’s it, back into miniatures.
Because I wanted to make a miniature Clivia miniata (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clivia_miniata
) for my miniature Grandma, I was surfing on the internet and I immediately
remembered me another Clivia, namely 'Nurse Klivia' from a Dutch television series
of the 60s :D.
This Dutch television series can possibly evoke some
memories at my Dutch blog readers, because in The Netherlands Nurse Klivia was
one of the leading actors in the series.
Okay, now we’ll continue with the plant Clivia, the one written with a C, or the Clivia miniata!
goed zien.
On the above picture you see that the Clivia miniata is
nearly 5 cm high, but because she is lying obliquely upwards on her leaves, you can’t see
it very well.
While making this plant I got lots of tiny end pieces of the floral
wire at the bottom of the plant, which gave me the idea for making light
colored fleshy roots of these loose ends, just like the plant also has in real life ;O!
It's a pity you can't see the roots anymore.....but I know that they are there, isn't it, Betsy ;O?!
Before Grandma has put the Clivia in a larger pot, she took
a young shoot from the mother plant, for getting a new cutting of her beloved
Clivia.
And after repotting the Clivia went back to its place on the
plant table (http://arjenspinhoven.nl/ )
in the 'best' room of the farm.
Flower pots are bought of http://www.fennicole-miniatures.nl/
N.B. Deze foto is sterk vergroot, dus iets wazig
Note: this photo is greatly enlarged, so it's a bit blurry
bloemenpracht zal laten zien ;O!
reacties.
Fijne week allemaal :D!
On the last picture you can see that the Clivia of Grandma
still has new buttons, so therefore I think it will still show her orange red
floral splendour for a while ;O!
A warm welcom to my new followers, thank you for your nice
comments.
I wish you all a nice week :D!

I have never seen one of those flowers before but it is beautiful, both large and miniature. It is a sad fact that if you want to try and protect your photos, the only way is to watermark them and hope that no one removes it. =0(
Hallo Ilona,
Your clivia is very realistic Ilona. The colours of the flowers is perfect. As for the other blogs using photos, it's quite strange. I hope too that they don't remove your watermark. Sadly, I think that being able to freely use other people's content is just one of the downfalls of the internet. Hope the upcoming week is kind to you.
Hi Ilona!
I very like your Clivia. It looks like real plant! is beautiful!
hugs
Magda
I can truly say (and if necessary even swear) that your miniature clivia looks absolutely realistic! And I'm able to judge - my parents own one as stunning as yours... apart from the size of course! Beautiful work - or should I say true Ilona-work? ;O) - About your watermarks and the story behind... I can't believe how people can do anything like this... bragging with the talent of others... how cheap is this. Let's hope that the watermarking helps... And maybe I should follow you to do so. Not that anyone would copy me - but even I have more "visits" from Russia than from everywhere else... and I don't think these come from my few Russian blogfriends... *gulp*
Hugs
Birgit

BRAVO Ilona!!! What a wonderful looking plant and it is Amazing the way that you have managed the colors of each of the petals! And it has roots too!!!!?
WOW, take a Bow! :D
Watermarks! They are so annoying. But totally necessary. :( They take so much extra time to put on each photo. You are even suppose to go back and watermark all the old photos on your blog. I just couldn't do it. Too many.
But the flower is gorgeous. And you're making the roots too now. You are a crazy lady! In the best sense of the word of course!
hugs♥,
Caroline
OOOHHH ! Jolie console !
Bises. Joce

besitos
Mari
That is stunning. Beautifully made and I love the colours.
Dear Ilona,
It's sad to read about the use of your photos. How did you find out that they used your photos?
Your Clivia is wonderful.
Hugs Dorien
Hallo Ilona.
Groetjes Xandra
Wat een prachtige clivia!
Groeten
I understand and share your anger at the failure of some miniaturists
the clivia is beautiful and the color rendering and shadow is awesome
what a beautiful environment for your grandmother
bonne journée
bisous
Beautiful plant Ilona, and your grandmother looks such a dear old lady!
I too have to think about watermarks, but I wouldn't even know if I can on my computer?? Such a waste of time, but necessary to do.
All the best and take care.
Vivian
Bises, Lili
Your clivia is stunning Ilona, so realistic!! And Grandma looks very happy sitting peacefully with it in her room :)
I keep forgetting to put a watermark on my photos and I have many visits from Russia. It is so sad that this happens!! Thank you for reminding me of the importance of marking our photos.
Hugs
Vicky ♥ ♥
Yes, I'll say it too! Take a bow, Ilona! Your Clivia is stunning, truly stunning! xo Jennifer

Lieve groetjes Mieke
Wow your plant is gorgeous. It looks so real.Grandma must love her plant it has grown so well :)))
Hugs Maria
Bisous, Dominique
It's an exquisite Clivia. An awesome piece of work! Bravo!
It is really frustrating to have to watercolor your photos. On the other
hand you also have to feel complimented.
It happens only to the best artists,
and you, my dear, are one of the top
bests.
A big hug, Drora
Hi Ilona! Your Clivia is gorgeous, so very realistic! My Grandmother used to have one with just your colors! Love it!
Hugs
Kikka
Your clivia is fabulous and so realistic.
This flower is an amazing work as always! I can´t believe how many dtails and realism you always put in your work. It is really unbelievable how much talent found space in just one person. It doesn´t matters what you make, it is always the same... a masterpiece!
Hugs
Melli
Hello Ilona! I love the Clivia, it is one of my favorite plants, with its somewhat waxy texture and such deep color. And as always, you have completely captured the spirit of the plant. I mean it when I say that you have a unique skill with your ability to "see" the details that make things look so realistic. Not everyone has that!
I am an admirer!
Doug
Dear Ilona, I am so late to comment! But I agree completely that it is Important that You know the roots are there!!! And now We do too! LOL! They look perfect.... and much better than just cutting them all off! The plant is just so real, I cannot imagine it is so small! You really know how to get perfection with the scale of things.... something I am working hard to improve with my projects!
I am sorry you have had to watermark your photos.... I still do not know how to research that stuff.... maybe better that I don't know?
Your work is Superb and You deserve the credit!
I'm sorry to be so late commenting here, especially when you mentioned me...(blushing) but I know exactly what you mean!
preciosa clivia!
It's fantastic, love the colour of the petals. And your tea roses, below this post, are fabulous as is the furniture they are sitting on, love the curved legs and marble top.
I just had a look at my stats, some very strange referring URLs, sites that have nothing to do with miniatures. Not really sure what is going on... :D Hopefully nothing bad. Good idea to watermark, and always useful anyway, sometimes I see a picture of a miniature and want to know who made it, and yet there is no information!!!
I think it is smart of you to watermark your pictures, it's so easy to share online, and some people aren't that nice, they can even say it's their own picture..
The flowers are wonderful!! Makes a lovely addition to your beautiful grandma scene!
Hannah
What a Clivia!♥
Very beautiful and realistic.
Baby Clivias are so cute too. :)
-Ilona, your post remains me about the Clivia-kit I've bought two years ago. Do you think it is time to take it out from the box? :D
My real Clivia is also waiting for a new soil and bigger pot.
After I'll get those things done
I'll look as happy as your Granny. :)
Hugs, piikko
