Now the Christmas holidays are over I've finally made a start with
making new miniatures :D!
For one of the new things on my to-do list, I do need a old weathered brick wall. After a lot of thinking I’ve started cutting out small bricks out
of a roll of sanding paper, which I’ve bought at the Action-shop (cheap
supermarket in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France). I've chosen this
sanding paper because of its color ;O.
After a while I discovered that I was busy with cutting the
wrong size! I cut small stones of 4 mm high and 8 mm wide, this had to be 15 mm wide of course!
Here you can see the difference. After that, you can see that the work progressed much faster, hahaha!
The cutting and glueing of these brick stones on thin grey
cardboard and the coloring with acrylic paint will cost me quite some time.
This is what I’ve done in two days. I think it will cost quite some more of my
time....... ♪♫♪♫
was?
In November I was busy with a secret chore, do you remember?
Well, it seems that it will be secret for a bit longer, because it was made for
someone else. In the meantime it safely arrived at her home and probably she
will show it on her blog....if it's the time for it ;)!
The first snowdrops in my garden are in bloom, these are for
you, have a nice weekend :D!

Woohoo - you're back to miniatures! Although it's time-consuming brickwork... but as usual you're coming up with a very clever idea. Using that sanding paper is brilliant and with your finishing touches your bricks look awesome. And about that secret project - I'm convinced that this lady will show it soon... ;O)

The bricks look great. Nice job!
Oh, you have snowdrops!!!! All we have is the snow! LOL!
Right now it is VERY cold here... and plans to stay that way for days and days.... *Sigh* it will be a Long Time before we see any snowdrops... so I am happy to see yours!
As for the bricks... I thought about using sandpaper for mine.... but was concerned it would wear out my scissors! Besides, the egg cartons are easily available over here. Well, I look forward to seeing what You are building with your bricks.... you know what I am building with mine! It is fun to be sharing a task over the oceans!!!
Happy New Year!
Great idea on those bricks, Ilona. They look so realistic! I look forward to seeing more, including your secret project. :-) xo Jennifer

The brick wall looks great, just the right brick colour. I admire your patience, l am a fidget and struggle with tiny fiddly bits. The wall is going to look beautiful and really life-like, look forward to see it in place! Also look forward to hear about your secret project, love your work! Wish you a really super weekend, thank you for the lovely snow drops. Snowing here and a storm forecast over the weekend. Means creative inside-time ;). Pam xxx

Hello Ilona!
Oh the joys of brick making! I like your idea of using sandpaper. I would not have thought of it, but it is very effective, especially after the distressing treatment you are adding. Look forward to seeing how this fits in your new project!
Doug
Love your brick stones work! It is a super fine idea to make it of the sandpaper!
Those snowdrops are gorgeus, I have newer seen them in the nature. Only in photos!

Very clever brick work! It is time consuming & either therapeutic or frustrating... :-) Either way the result is lovely and true to life. I love your touch of Spring! Looking forward to seeing more of your mini work.
Warm Hugs,
Lisa

I look forward to see your secret chore.
The snowdrops are lovely. We don't
have them here since it seldom snows.
Thank you for sharing the photo. It's
a very beautiful flower arrangement.

What!? You have flowers in your garden!
Well, you have snowdrops and we have...SNOW!:D
-What a great idea to make bricks from sand paper. Some of my minifriends used black sandpaper to make roof to their market stalls.
-Have great week Ilona! :)
Now i can't wait to get in my shop and build Ilona.
Thank you for sharing.
Mario
