My old bathroom was urgently in need for a renovation, so this enormous job took place in the past week. But despite all I've finished something in
miniature yet.
During the demolition work I fortunately didn't need a safety
helmet, but in an other way I could have used one. Do you want to know when?
Well, here, in The Netherlands, it seems that this year is a
good year for acorns, because during my walkings of the past few weeks, it
regularly happened to me: falling acorns on my head. Wearing a safety helmet
would be a good thing to do, because those falling acorns can hurt you quite hard ;)!

During the last miniature show in Arnhem someone asked me if
I could make a miniature oak tree branch (Quercus robur) with lots of
tiny acorns. So, for me these falling acorns were a very good inspiration
source, because now I didn’t need to climb into an oak tree ;).
This is the result…
The acorns are 2-3 mm long, they're made out of Fimo clay.
geteld heb ;).
You can’t nearly see it, but together they have more than 24
miniature leaflets at these small branches and about 15 tiny acorns, at least if I've counted them all ;).
For a nice picture I’ve looked for a acorn cap of the Dutch
Summer oak, so you can see the difference of an acorn is in real life and how
tiny they are in 1:12.
Dezelfde foto met én zonder loep…
The same picture with and without a magnifier…
This 1:1 acorn on the above pictures is from the American Oak, who are
much shorter and wider than those of the Dutch Summer Oak. After drying, I've sawn this acorn in halves before I took these pictures.
The leaves have a very blue-toned color, in reality you don't see it.
It's from the very poor daylight on these dark days in November.
Thank you for your nice comments, I wish you
all a nice week!
