Sinterklaasavond / Sinterklaas Eve

Dit popje vraagt om wat introductie, want ze is nu al te zien op een paar foto’s. 

Maar er zit een heel verhaal achter, dus dat zal ik dan een andere keer doen ;O.

This doll asks some introduction, because you can now see her on some pictures. 

But there’s a whole story behind, so I’ll do this an other time ;O

December startte voor mij heel fijn: mijn lieve vriendin Birgit heeft mij blij verrast met een doos vol lieve kadootjes……..tenminste dat dénk ik ;O!! Alle pakjes hebben een datum, waarop ze uitgepakt mogen worden, dus het eerste kadootje is inmiddels uitgepakt.

Het is direct al een mooi cadeau: een adventskalender met op de cover de gastheer van haar blog http://biwubaer.blogspot.nl/  erop: de jongeheer Flutterby genaamd J! En erin zitten heerlijke chocolaatjes verborgen. 

Lieve Birgit: dankjewel voor deze super verrassing :D!!

December started very nice for me: my dear blog friend, Birgit, surpised me with sending a box filled with gifts……. at least I think so ;O!! Because all of the gifts have a date, whereon they can be unwrapped, so only the first gift is already unwrapped.

It is a beautiful gift: an Advent calendar and on the cover is the host of her blog, http://biwubaer.blogspot.nl/ : the young gentlebearie, named Flutterby J! In the calendar are hidden delicious chocolates. 

Dear Birgit: thank you so much for this super surprise :D!!

Om de chocolaatjes uit de kalender te kunnen nemen, was wat hulp nodig en wie beter dan Schepje kon mij helpen (hij is ook gemaakt door Birgit)? 

Hup, schep eronder en hopla, daar kwamen ze er al uit ;)!

For getting the chocolates out of the calendar, we needed some help and who could help me better than Schepje (he's also made by Birgit)? 

Easy peasy: putting his snow shovel under the chocolates and there they are ;)!

Daarna sprongen ze beiden in de doos, die Birgit naar ons heeft gestuurd, als je goed kijkt, zie je dat Schepje al een kruidnoot heeft geconfisqueerd, dus ik vermoed dat hij ook nog ergens anders is geweest…. Maar beiden zagen snel dat met het uitpakken van de andere kadootjes toch nog eventjes gewacht zal moeten worden.

Then they both jumped into the box, which Birgit sent to us, if you look well you’ll see that Schepje still had a pepernoot on his snow shovel (more information, see here; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kruidnoten ) so, I guess he has also been somewhere else with his shovel…. But both have seen that they will have to wait for unwrapping the rest of the gifts.

Alle popjes zijn door mij gemaakt, de Sint en zijn pieten al jaren geleden

All dolls are made by me, Sinterklaas and his helpers years ago

Inmiddels is Sinterklaas hier bij ons thuis gearriveerd en het kleine meisje heeft Sinterklaas en zijn Pieten al ontmoet. Ze vindt die Gym Piet, die op zijn handen kan staan, helemaal geweldig, want zelf lukt haar dat nog niet, ze is nog te klein…. ;).

In the meanwhile Sinterklaas arrived here at our home and the little girl met Sinterklaas and his helpers. She thinks Gym Pete, who can stand on his hands, is awesome, because she can’t do this, she is still too young…. ;).

Ze heeft echter ook al die grote wasmand vol kadootjes gezien en ze is erg nieuwsgierig voor wie al die kadootjes zullen zijn. Maar Oma heeft haar van tevoren verteld dat Sinterklaas ook wel blij zou zijn met een paar kleine kadootjes. Bijvoorbeeld een wortel voor zijn paard, Amerigo en deze keer heeft Oma een paar speculaaspoppen gebakken, als kadootjes van haar voor Sint. Sint was erg blij met de speculaaspoppen en hij vertelde haar dat hij ze zou delen met zijn Pieten, als ze vanavond thuiskomen…

She has also seen the big laundry basket full with gifts and she is very curious for whom all of these gifts will go. But grandma told her in advance that Sinterklaas would be also happy with some small gifts from her. For example a carrot for his horse, Amerigo and this time grandma has baked some “speculaaspoppen” (more information, see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speculaas ), as a gift from her to Sinterklaas. Sinterklaas was very happy with the two “speculaaspoppen” and he told her that he will share these with his helpers, after they will come home this evening…

De speculaasplankjes heb ik gekocht bij: http://arjenspinhoven.nl/ ik heb ze gebakken van fimo klei en daarna met acrylverf beschilderd.

The special baking mold for these “speculaaspoppen”are bought from: http://arjenspinhoven.nl/ I’ve baked them from Fimo clay and the painted with acrylic paint.

Het heeft hier al een paar nachten gevroren, dus was alles vanmorgen betoverend mooi bedekt met ijskristallen, waar de zon op scheen: zo mooi!

Ik wens iedereen een fijne Sinterklaasavond toe en voor wie het niet viert: nog even wachten tot Kerstavond dan ;)!

Here, in The Netherlands, we had a few frosty nights, so this morning everything was enchanting beautifully covered with ice crystals, whereon the sun was shining: soooo beautiful!

I wish everyone a cosy, nice Sinterklaas evening and for who won’t celebrate this feast: than you still have to wait until it is Christmas Eve ;)!
