17e eeuwse schrijfkist / 17th century writing box

Website: http://arjenspinhoven.nl/

A few blogs ago you've seen the chest I bought from Arjen Spinhoven Miniaturen. This bible box is also a miniature kit of his hand. Website: http://arjenspinhoven.nl/

To Drora: you asked me about the carvings, as you can see at the above picture they are already engraved, it's a mdf laser cut kit.

With scratches I gave the box a aged look, I always love doing this ;O

Hinges and the key plate are supplied to the kit.
The bottom side got only false wood grain, it's not varnished.

De achterzijde / The reverse side

However, I’ll change this kit into a miniature writing box, which will go into my display at the DHN-show, next weekend in Arnhem. It will get some accesories in it, they aren’t ready yet.
For this writing box I also used the technique for getting “false wood grain”, you can see it a few blogs earlier for how you can do it.

After this kit was ready I started another one, a kit of a miniature whatnot, bought from Art of Mini.
Yesterday it looked like it was autumn, because there was a tough storm in The Netherlands, therefore I've decorated the whatnot with autumn miniatures ;)!

Betsy (blog: http://aboutmydollhouses.blogspot.nl/) wrote to me in a comment on my last blog post about a book, wherein plants/flowers of the 17th century are described. In the meanwhile I got this book and indeed: it’s beautiful! Dear Betsy, thank you so much for this excellent tip!!
Okay, that’s it for today, I still have quite some half finished flowers and plants on my work table, I’ll show them to you in a coming blogpost. Thank you all for the nice comments on my flower still life. In the meantime I’ve also changed some flowers in this still life, but I’ll show you a next time.
For those, who have plans to go to the DHN-show in Arnhem and want to say “hello”, or just want to take a look at my miniatures: my table number is C18.
I wish you all a nice weekend!
