Afgelopen twee weken heb ik beurtelings uitgerust/vakantie
gehouden én heb ik mijn werkkamer opgeruimd, wàt een puinhoop was het daar!
Ik heb dus nog niets nieuws gemaakt in miniatuur, maar
zoekend in foto’s kwam ik toch nog iets tegen: de verlichting in de wc van mijn
miniatuur boerderij.
In the past two weeks I've alternately rested/took days off
and I've cleaned up my workroom, because in there was laying quite a mess!
I haven’t made something new in miniature yet, but searching
through pictures I came across these ones: the lighting in the loo of my
miniature farm.
In eerste instantie wilde ik twee plastic bolletjes van
kerstverlichting ombouwen tot een lamp voor in de wc, maar de doorsnede was
veel te groot: in miniatuur was de lamp dan 2 cm!
At first I wanted to convert two plastic balls from Christmas
lights into a lamp for the toilet, but the diameter of the miniature lamp
became 2 cm!
Zoekend in mijn rommelbak kwam ik de transparante plastic
noppen van een grote borstel tegen: ideaal! De vorm was precies die van een
oude stallamp uit de jaren 50. In de bol zat al een luchtbel, die heb ik gebruikt
om de lamp verder uit te boren, zodat er een lampje in gemaakt kon worden.
Searching in my box filled with all sorts of things, I came
across the transparent plastic nubs of a large brush: ideal! The shape was
exactly that of an old stable lamp from the 50s. There was already an air
bubble in the bulb, which I used to further drill out the lamp, so that a lamp
would fit in.
Nadat ik de nop had uitgehold, heb ik de bol in de lengte
afgeplakt om het te beschilderen met zilverkleurig nagellak (bruine
roestvlekken van bruine nagellak). Dit soort lamp had een ijzeren kap zodat het
licht dáár scheen, waar het nodig was.
After I hollowed the plastic nub, I taped off the lamp shade
in the length for painting it with silver colored nail polish (rusty spots with
brown nailpolish). This sort of lamp had an iron shade so that the light was
shining there where needed.
Als stroombuis heb ik een plastic wattenstokje gebruikt,
waarvan het afgesneden uiteinde precies in de lampenkap paste. De leiding werd
witgeschilderd met witte kalkverf (witkalk) en het uiterste einde werd zwart
geschilderd, omdat het in de zwart geschilderde sokkel van de lamp kwam te
zitten.
I used a plastic cotton swab as the power tube, cut off the
end which therefore fitted exactly into the lampshade. The tube is painted with
white lime paint (whitewash) and the extreme end is painted black, because it
ended up in the black-painted base of the lamp.
Hierna heb ik het kleine lampje met draad in de stroombuis
geschoven, waarna de lampenkap er op kwam. (lampje en klemblokje zijn gekocht bij Sun van
Nalladris.com)
Nu is het klaar om aan de muur te bevestigen, maar ik ben
nog niet verder gegaan met het afbouwen van de wc, dus dat moet nog gebeuren.
After this I put the small lamp with wire in the power tube,
after which the lampshade was placed on it. (light and terminal block are bought from Sun of
Nalladris.com)
Now it is ready to be attached to the wall, but I haven't
continued to finish the lavatory unit, so that still needs to be done.
Maar ermee spelen kon natuurlijk al wel ;O!!
But playing with the light was already possible, of course ;O!!
Mijn eerste resultaat was echter niet geweldig: véél te fel
licht L
Daarom heb ik Sun een e-mailtje gestuurd en zij raadde me
aan om het lichtje wat gele nagellak te geven. Aangezien ik de lamp gewoon los
kan maken uit de kap kon ik dat doen en dat werkte prima, kijk maar J!!
However, my first result was not that good: way too much
bright light for an old dusty lamp L
That's why I’ve sent an email to Sun and she had some good
advice for me: paint the light bulb with just a tiny bit yellow nail polish.
Because I could take apart the bulb from the lamp shade, I could do that and it
worked perfectly, see here J!!
Gezien van buitenaf door de hor, die voor het raampje zit
(tegen de vliegen etc. ;O).
Seen from outside through the screen, which is in front of
the window (against flies and so on ;O).
Nu ga ik deze week nog een beetje vakantie houden (want die
heb ik afgelopen zomer nog niet gehad), nog meer opruimen en dan hoop ik weer
te beginnen met het maken van nieuwe miniaturen.

This week I still have a bit of vacation(because I didn't
had vacation in past summer), cleaning up some more and than I hope to start
again with making new miniatures.
