Margrietjes / Daisies

Om voor een lief, verlegen meisje kleding te maken was een ‘feestje’ voor mij! Ook al omdat ze een witblond koppie haar heeft, want lang geleden (toen ik klein was), had ik ook van dat witblonde haar….;)!

Zij is ook gecreëerd door Patricia ( www.woolytalesminiatures.blogspot.com ) en ik heb jullie al verteld dat ze mij de opdracht heeft gegeven om voor haar enkele poppen aan te kleden. Deze miniatuur popjes zijn dus niet voor mij, want ze gaan allemaal weer terug naar Patricia!

It was a party for me to make some clothing for a sweet, shy girl! Why? Well, because of her white-blonde hair, because a long time ago (when I was a little girl), I had exactly the same hair color….;)!

She is also created by Patricia (www.woolytalesminiatures.blogspot.com ) and I have already told you that she commissioned me to make clothing for a few of her dolls. So, these miniature dolls are not for me, because they all will go back to Patricia!

Terwijl ik aan een jurkje voor haar zat te werken gingen mijn gedachten terug naar mijn kindertijd: ik had een jurkje (alleen voor zon- en feestdagen) met van dat mooie smokwerk op het lijfje. Zou ik dat ook in het klein kunnen proberen te maken voor het kleine meisje?

Toen herinnerde ik me een boek dat ik een poosje geleden had gekocht (Boekenvoordeelshop), daarin staan allerlei naai- en borduurtechnieken.....nou, gewoon eens uitproberen, toch?

Whilst I was working on a dress for her, my thoughts went back to my childhood: I had a dress (just for the Sun- and holidays) with smocking work on the bodice. Would I give it a try to do that technique in miniature for this sweet little girl?

Then I remembered me a book that I bought a while ago, in which all sorts of sewing and embroidery techniques are explained.....well, you just can try it, huh?

Ik heb het dus geprobeerd te doen, maar ik heb het smokwerk wat aan moeten passen, want voor mij was het maken van echt smokwerk in die schaal niet mogelijk. Maar het effect ziet er bijna hetzelfde uit....

I gave it a try, but I had to adapt the smocking technique, because the making of real smocking stitches in this small size was not possible for me. But the effect nearly looks the same...

Mijn volgende opgave was om de lange mouwen in de jurk te zetten, maar wat me niet lukte: het werd veel te volumineus :(! Zoals je ziet is dit een ander bovenstukje, ik heb het maar weggegooid.

My next task was to put in the small dress the long sleeves, but this didn't look like what I had in mind: it became far too bulky :(! As you can see this is another bodice, but I've thrown it away.

Nou, dan wordt het maar een overgooiertje met een t-shirtje eronder, dat staat toch ook leuk, hè?

Well, than it had to become a pinafore (jumper?) with a T-shirt underneath, that's also nice, huh?

Ik maakte witte opgerolde sokjes voor haar, die parmantig uitsteken boven haar rose gympjes.

I made white rolled-up socks for her, which protrude perky above her pink sneakers. 

Op de achterkant van haar jurkje zit een (open) zakje met een koetje 'boe’ er op, 'n grapje ;)!

On the back side of her dress I've made a small (open) pocket with a cow 'boo’ on it, just a little joke ;)!

In haar armen houdt ze een ingebakerd babypopje, maar ik wil het nog vervangen door iets beters. Naar mijn mening zijn de oogjes van het ingebakerde popje te ‘hard’, dus wil ik nog een ander knuffeltje maken voor het meisje.

In her arms she holds a swaddled baby doll, but I will replace it by something better. To my opinion the eyes of this swaddled doll are a bit too ‘harsh’, so I think I will make an other stuffed animal for this girl.

Patricia had het witblonde haar al in staartjes gevormd en ik kon daarmee doen wat ik wilde. Ik heb kleine margrietjes voor in het haar gemaakt, want dat staat zo lief, vind je ook niet?

Patricia did already shaped her white-blonde hair in two pigtails and I could do with it whatever I wanted. I’ve made some small daisies for her hair, because it looks so sweet, don’t you think so?

Net als het jongetje is ze bijna 9 cm hoog / Just like the boy, she is nearly 9 cm high

Ze wilde ook graag een bosje margrietjes meenemen naar haar geestesmoeder, Patricia, voor als ze terug reist naar huis. Dus heb ik er paar meer voor haar gemaakt en daarom noem ik haar Margrietje :)!

She also would love to bring a bunch of daisies to her spiritual Mom, Patricia, if she travels back home. So I've made a few more daisies for her and that's why I named her Daisy :)!

Om jullie een idee te geven hoe klein de miniatuur kleutertjes van Patricia zijn….hier staan er twee op mijn werktafel.

To give you an idea of how small the miniature toddlers of Patricia are….here are two of them standing on my work table.

Mislukking? / Failure?

Ik denk dat het wel 10 jaar geleden is dat ik wat losse onderdelen voor miniatuur popjes van Fimo klei heb gebakken. Ze lagen ergens in een la opgeborgen in een oude sok en ik was ze bijna vergeten.

Maar een paar weken geleden vond ik ze terug en van één stel onderdelen besloot ik een popje voor het personeel in mijn grachtenhuis te maken.

I think it must be 10 years ago that I baked a few loose parts of miniature dolls, made out of Fimo clay. I had stored them in an old sock somewhere in a drawer and I nearly forgot them. 
But a few weeks ago I found them back and I’ve decided to make a new doll from one set of parts for the staff in my canal house.

Dit waren de onderdelen, die ik gebruikt heb voor mijn nieuwe popje. 

Er mist een hand op de foto, maar er zijn er twee, kijk maar hier onder....

These were the parts, which I have used for my new doll. 

On the picture she seems to miss a hand, but there are two of them, look at the picture below....

Ik gebruik voor het maken van miniatuur poppen (1:12 schaal) het fantastische  boek van James Carrington, dit boek heb ik jullie al in vorige blogpots laten zien. Uit dit boek heb ik een schema overgetrokken met de juiste verhoudingen voor poppen van verschillende leeftijden. Achter het nieuwe popje kun je dit schema zien. Hier op bovenstaande foto zijn de onderdelen verbonden met ijzerdraad, is het bekleed met watten en is het omwikkeld met huidkleurige (haak)katoen. Dit staat allemaal vermeld in dit boek, wat erg goed is voor het maken van je eigen miniatuur poppen.

For making (1:12 scale) miniature dolls I use the fantastic book of James Carrington. I have shown you this book in previous blog posts. Out of this book I have copied a drawn scheme for the exact proportions for dolls on different ages. Behind the new doll you can see this scheme. Here, on the picture above, are the parts of the doll connected with iron wire, which is coated with cotton wool and it is then coated with skin colored cotton thread (for crocheting). These things are all mentioned in the book, which is very helpful for making your own miniature dolls.

Volgens de instructies van dit boek smeer ik het gezichtje en handjes/armen in met een dikke laag toneel make-up, waarna ik het overtollige er weer afveeg met een vochtig doekje. Dit is nodig om de gelaatstrekken van een pop duidelijker te laten zien. Toen zag ik ook voor het eerst dat het gezichtje tijdens het boetseren al ‘mislukt’ was. Maar dat was voor mij de reden dat ik voor haar een eigen levensverhaal heb gecreëerd, maar dat vertel ik jullie in een andere blog post  ;)!

According the instructions of this book, I paint a thick layer of make-up for actors on the face and the hands/arms of the doll and after that I removed the excess with a damp cloth. This is necessary to show the facial features of a doll more clearer. At that moment I saw that her small face was already failed during the sculpting fase. But that was also the reason for me to create her own life story, but I will tell you that in another blog post ;)!

Nu is haar gezichtje beschilderd, je kunt duidelijk zien dat ze geen schoonheid is ;). 

Now her face is painted, you can clearly see that she is not a natural beauty ;).

Ik naai voor elke pop, die ik zelf maak, bijpassende kleding en ik gebruik hiervoor geen bepaald patroon, ik knip gewoon stof, pas het op de pop en ik heb een jurk voor haar genaaid. Er is geen lijm gebruikt voor zoompjes of zo.

For every doll, I make myself, I sew matching clothes and I don’t use a particular pattern, I simply cut the fabric, I apply it on the doll and I’ve sewn a dress for her. I didn’t use glue for the seams or something else.

Ook kreeg ze een schort van mij, die zal ze nodig hebben bij haar werk in de huishouding. 

She also got an apron of me, which she will need for her work in the household.

Donkerbruine verf op haar benen moeten haar kousen voorstellen. De slippers zijn gemaakt van dun leer en ze kregen ook een veelgebruikt uiterlijk. Bovendien zijn ze vele maten te groot….dus op de groei gekocht ;)!

The dark brown paint on her legs are suppose to be her stockings. The slippers are made of thin pieces of leather and they also got a much used look. Moreover, they are many sizes too big ....so they are purchased on the growth;)!

Voor haar kapsel heb ik oanjerode mohair gebruikt, omdat mij idt echt een goede keuze leek voor dit popje met haar ‘mislukte’ gezichtje…… Eerst een strook plakband op een stuk hout plakken en daarop plukjes haar plakken met Tacky Glue, daarna kun je het in elk gewenst kapsel op het hoofdje van de pop plakken.

I used orange red mohair for her hairdo, because this hair color did seem to me a good choice for this doll with her 'failed' face ..... First you stick a piece of Scotch tape on a piece of wood and with Tacky you glue thereon a few tufts of hair, then you glue the tufts of hair on the head of the doll in any hairdo you wish.

Dit is dus de oplossing van het raadsel van een aantal blogs geleden, waar ik zulke leuke antwoorden van jullie op gekregen heb :D!!

So, this is also the solution of the riddle of a few blogs ago, on which I got such nice answers of you all :D!!

Met haar nieuwe kapsel ziet ze er zo uit. Als je goed kijkt: ze heeft een litteken in haar gezichtje…

With her new hairdo she looks like this. If you look well: she has a large scar in her small face….

Trek je slippers uit en hup, op de weegschaal…..tja, ze weegt niet veel, net 21 gram en ze meet 13 cm hoog!

Take off your slippers and hop, on the scales ........ well, she does not weigh much, just 21 grams and she is 13 cm in height!

In een ander bericht zal ik meer over haar vertellen.
