Potten en lepels / Pots and ladles

Afgelopen week heb ik de jaarafsluiting van mijn schildersclub gehad. We zijn vanwege het mooie weer op locatie gaan “schilderen” en zoals altijd veel lol gehad :D Ik had toch maar mijn schilderspullen meegenomen in een tas, ondanks dat ik al 2 jaar geen inspiratie heb om te schilderen. Het liep echter allemaal een beetje anders ;)!!

Aangekomen op de locatie zag ik een bos bamboe staan bij de waterkant en dat.........stond daar zomaar op mij te wachten! Ik heb namelijk bamboe nodig om water- en filterschepjes etc. voor het theehuis van te maken. Dus mijn tas met schilderspullen stond ergens eenzaam en alleen geparkeerd  en ik…….ik  was druk bamboe aan het snijden, NIKS schilderen :D! Een lid van de schildersclub maakte foto’s van een hele gezellige middag samen en ving me stiekem met zijn fototoestel ;D!

Last week I had the closure of my painting club for the summer season. Because of the nice weather, we wanted “to paint” on location, it was big fun :D  I  packed my painting stuff into a bag, despite of no inspiration for over two years now. But everything went a bit different ;).

Arriving at the location I saw some bamboo near the waterside and this.........was waiting for me! I namely need some bamboo for cutting water ladles and a filter ladle for the teahouse. So the bag with paint stuff was parked very lonely at the waterside and I was very busy with cutting the bamboo, NO painting :D! A member of the club took some photos of a very cozy afternoon together and he secretly caught me with the camera ;D!!

Ik heb toch nog een beetje tijd gevonden om wat potten en lepels te maken voor het Japanse theehuis. Het zijn "Raku" waterpotten (Fimo) om water in te bewaren, water uit te scheppen om het te verwarmen en om gebruikt water in te doen na het omspoelen van de gebruiksvoorwerpen tijdens de ceremonie. Om water te scheppen gebruik je bamboe lepels en voor het filteren van het water een bamboe filterlepel. Je kunt mijn zelf gemaakte bamboe lepels ook op de onderstaande foto's zien. Als je goed kijkt, zie je de nerven van de bamboe!

I still found some time to make some pots and ladles for the Japanese tea house. These are "Raku" (Fimo) water containers: to hold water in, to scoop water out for heating and pots to store the water after rinsing the tea utensils during the tea ceremony. To ladle water out of the pots, you use ladles of bamboo and to filter the water you use a filter ladle of bamboo. You also can see my (made by me) bamboo ladles on the pictures below. If you look well, you can see the veins of the bamboo!
