Het is geloof ik twee jaar geleden dat ik van Loes Snoodijk ( http://members.ziggo.nl/miniloes/winkel.htm
) een rookstoel uit de jaren ’50 heb gekocht, deze prachtige fauteuil is gemaakt
van eikenhout. Mijn grootouders hadden ook zo’n fauteuil en hij gaat dan ook in
mijn miniatuurboerderij……als dat ooit eens afkomt ;)!
De zitting en het
rugkussen waren door Loes bekleed met een moderner stofje en nu heb ik
afgelopen week dat stofje vervangen voor een mooie wijnrode ‘pluche’.
I think it’s about two years ago that I bought a smoker’s
chair from Loes Snoodijk ( http://members.ziggo.nl/miniloes/winkel.htm
), this beautiful fauteuil is made of oak wood. My grandparents also had this
sort of chair and therefore it will go into my miniature farm…….when it ever
will be ready ;)!
Loes had upholstered the seat and the back cushions with a
more modern dessin and last week I’ve replaced this fabric for a wine-colored
‘plush’.
Nadat er nieuwe bekleding op de stoel is gemaakt, wil mijn Opa
dat Oma even gaat zitten om te voelen hoe de stoel nu zit. Maar mijn echte Opa
vond het heerlijk om mijn Oma altijd voor de gek te houden en daarom heb ik dat
ook op deze foto in scène gezet. Hier heeft hij de stang van de leuning plotseling
even achterover laten zakken, waardoor Oma helemaal achterover komt te liggen
in de stoel. “O, Hendrik tóch”….ik hoor haar het nóg zeggen, ja, ze waren echt
dol op elkaar, mijn Opa en Oma ;D!
After the chair got new upholstering, my grandfather wants
my grandma to take a seat for feeling how the chair sits now. But my real life
grandpa always loved fooling his wife and therefore I made a miniature scene
about it. Here he suddenly put down the rail of the back cushion, so instead of
sitting grandma was lying on her back in the chair. “Oh, Hendrik, don’t do this
to me”…..I can still hear her saying that to my grandpa, yes, my grandparents
were very fond of each other ;D!
Toen de nieuwe bekleding erop zat, vond ik het hout
eigenlijk een beetje te licht van kleur. Oma smeerde altijd boenwas op deze
stoel, dat rook zo door het hele voorhuis. Dus heb ik de rookstoel met boenwas ook
maar wat donkerder gemaakt.
After upholstering the chair, I thought the wood color was a
bit too pale. Grandma did always put beeswax on this chair, you can smell it
through the whole house. So I’ve also put some beeswax on the chair, making the
color a bit darker.
Ik heb de kussens, gemaakt van balsahout, eerst bewerkt,
zodat de bekleding eruit zou zien alsof er veel op gezeten wordt. Gewoon omdat
ik dat soort dingetjes leuk vind ;)!
I’ve edited the cushions, made of balsa wood, so that the
upholstering got an used look (by a lot of sitting). Just because I like adding
this sort of details ;)!
Hier kun je de initialen van Loes Snoodijk zien, leuk dat ze
haar meubeltjes signeerd.
Here you can see the initials of Loes Snoodijk, it’s nice that
she signs her pieces of furniture.
Nadat de stoel door Oma goed in de was is gezet, zal ze van
het weekend lekker kunnen uitrusten.
After the chair was put in beeswax by grandma, she can rest
well this weekend.

Ik kwam tijdens het boodschappen doen bij de Blokker winkel

Doing some groceries in my village, I came along the shop of
Blokker (Dutch shop for household ware) and there I saw a small mug with a very
