Er waait al meer dan een week een straffe oostenwind,
rechtstreeks uit Siberië, daardoor is het ijskoud!!! Buiten zijn is geen
pretje, maar als je terug binnenkomt, zijn je wangen roodgloeiend.
Het doet me denken aan vroeger: in de winter met de fiets thuiskomen
uit school en mijn moeder had een lekkere jachtschotel klaargemaakt. Met heerlijke
rodekool uit eigen groentetuin erbij en smullen maar.
Tijdens de periode dat ik zo hoestte, ben ik met Fimoklei in
de weer geweest en heb ik zo’n jachtschotel in miniatuur gemaakt. Tja, je moet
toch wat als door het hoesten de minibloemen anders van je werktafel afwaaien
;O)!
There’s blowing a strong Eastern wind, all the way from
Siberia to The Netherlands, therefore it’s ice cold here!!! Being outdoors is
no fun, but when you come indoors, your cheeks are red-hot.
It made me think of earlier times: coming home from school on
your bike in winter and Mom prepared a delicious hotpot. Tasty red cabbage from our own vegetables
garden and let’s eat.
During the period that I had that nasty cough, I’ve ‘played’
with Fimo clay and I’ve made such a hotpot in miniature. Ah well, if you can’t
make miniature flowers, because they will fly away from your work table by
coughing, you can always do something else ;O!

mij zelf gemaakt, van Fimo klei.

Deze roodgeel gestreepte tulpen zijn in opdracht gemaakt, ze
staan vrolijk in deze 17e eeuwse glazen roemer, gemaakt door Gerd
Felka.
These red yellow striped tulips are custom made, they look
so cheerful in this 17th century glass rummer, made by Gerd Felka.
Deze ‘frosted’ glazen vaas is ook gemaakt door Gerd Felka,
ik vind dit glas helemaal passen bij de heersende koude van de afgelopen week
en bij ijs!
Ths ‘frosted’ glass vase is also made by Gerd Felka, I think
this glass fits perfectly with the prevailing cold of this past week and to
ice!
En samen met een flinke bos narcissen, hup, in een groene
vaas (gemaakt door Phil Greyner), mooi!
And together with a big bunch of daffodils, hoppa, in a
green glass vase (made by Phil Greyner), love it!
Ondanks dat het hier flink vriest, kunnen we helaas niet
schaatsen. Het ijs is op erg veel plaatsen onbetrouwbaar en het heeft veel
wakken door de snoeiharde oostenwind, zó jammer! Daarnaast zijn er vandalen op
de ijsbaan in het dorp bezig geweest om het ijs te vernielen, vertel me: waarom
doet iemand dit…het plezier voor anderen bederven???
Despite of the heavy frost, we can’t go for ice skating. The
ice is totally not reliable in lot of places and it has lots of blow-holes,
caused by the hard Eastern wind, such a pity! And beside all, vandals have been
busy for destroying the ice on the ice rink in the village, tell me: why is
someone doing this ...spoiling the pleasure for other people???
Ten laatste, ik heb een aantal mailtjes gehad van mensen,
die mij vroegen of ik a.s. weekend ook op de DHN-show in Arnhem aanwezig zal
zijn. Het antwoord is nee, want ik heb vorig najaar zoveel verkocht dat ik
eerst nieuwe miniaturen moet maken om mijn showkasten weer behoorlijk gevuld te
krijgen. Daarnaast heb ik nog flink wat opdrachten liggen én wil ik aan nieuwe
displays werken. Dat kost mij veel tijd, dus ga ik deze komende miniaturenshow overslaan.
Mocht iemand mij wel zien in de Eusebiuskerk: ja, dat klopt, want ik ga lekker het
werk van anderen bekijken/bewonderen en ik heb nog wat materialen nodig ;)!

Lastly, I’ve got some e-mails from people, who asked me if
I'll be with my miniatures on the DHN-show in Arnhem, this upcoming weekend.
The answer is no, because last fall I sold so much miniature works that I first
have to make new miniatures, to decently fill my show boxes. Beside that I've
already quite some commissions AND I'll work at new displyas. That all will
take me alot of time, so I'll skip this upcoming miniatures show. And if
someone will spot me in The Eusebius Church: yes, I’ll be there, because I
would love to see/admire works of others and I need some materialen.
