lief is geweest in het afgelopen jaar ;)!
…and then Sint-Nicolaas and his helpers are coming with presents for everyone
who has been good in this past year ;)!
De houten klomp met wortel en de emmer water voor het paard
staan klaar, Piet heeft er een speculaaspop in gedaan en de tenen wasmand is
gevuld met kadootjes!!
The wooden shoe filled with a carrot and a bucket with water
for the horse are ready, Pete put a speculaaspop (a typical spiced biscuit) and
the willow wicker laundry basket is filled with gifts from Sint-Nicolaas!!
Deze poppen zijn vele jaren geleden al door mij gemaakt van
Fimoklei en aangekleed in de stijl van de jaren ’50, toen ik nog een heel klein
meisje was.
Omdat ik hele fijne herinneringen aan dit kinderfeest heb en ik
geen klein meisje meer ben, staat Kleine Ikke op de foto’s ;O!
Many years ago I’ve made these dolls from Fimo clay and
they're dressed by me in the style of the 50s, when I was just a very little
girl.
Because I have very good memories of this childrens feast and I’m now not a
little girl anymore, is Little Me on the pictures ;O!
Omdat Sinterklaas het zo druk heeft op zijn verjaardag met kadootjes
te brengen naar elk kind, komt hij vanavond bij Kleine Ikke. Ze praat
honderduit tegen Sinterklaas en heeft bewondering voor een van de Pieten, want
die kan push ups doen en zelfs op zijn handen staan. Ik hoop dat die kleine
meid morgenavond nog kan slapen van alle opwinding…
Because Sint-Nicolaas will be so very busy on his birthday
(5th of December) with delivering gifts to every child, he is visiting Little
Me this evening. She talks nineteen to the dozen to Sint-Nicolaas and is full
of admiration for one of the Black Pete’s, because he can do push ups and he
can even stand/walk on his hands. I hope that this little girl after all the
excitement can sleep yet tonight…

First of all... I hope you've had the most wonderful Sinterklaas celebration with your family! It's always so amazing how different all of us are celebrating something that has the same origin… may it be Christmas or St. Nicholas Day. In Germany St. Nick's is today / Dec 6th which means that all of us had to be careful when putting on our shoes this morning. For us it's common to put one boot in front of the door in the evening before and find it filled with goodies (if you've been good) or with coal (if you've been not so good) the next morning. And St. Nick's companion is not the Swarte Piet but the Crampus (in the South) or "Knecht Ruprecht", a very wild and frightening creature, well, he's the coal guy… *LOL* So I like the Swarte Piet better… especially if he's as funny and acrobatic as yours. What a wonderful scene… your figurines are incredible. And the whole scene was so heartwarming… the joy and happiness of Little You was visible... lucky little girl… but let's hope she'll sleep better this night because I have no doubt that after last day's excitement it was hard for her to come to rest. ;O)
