Als het donker is geworden zie ik ze hier geregeld rondfladderen, want dan gaan ze op jacht naar voedsel, zoals o.a. kleine insecten.

Omdat de beurs in oktober gelijk met Halloween viel, dacht ik dat ik een paar vleermuisjes klaar zou kunnen hebben, maar dat liep anders…..vandaar dat ik ze nu pas kan laten zien aan jullie.

If it is dark I see them regularly fluttering around here, because it’s than that they’re  go out hunting for food, like small bugs.

Because the miniature fair was on the day of Halloween, I thought I would have finished some little bats, but I couldn't…….that’s why I'm showing them to you now.

In mijn knotwilg was nog plaats voor een paartje vleermuisjes…..

In my pollarded willow there was still room for a couple of dwarf bats…

….en zelfs voor hun jongen. Wacht, ik zal ‘m eventjes vangen, dan kunnen jullie hem beter zien op deze sterk vergrote foto ;)!

Zoekend naar informatie op het internet kwam ik deze schattige foto van vleermuisweesjes tegen, ze zijn gewikkeld in zachte wikkeldoeken. 

While I was looking for information on the internet I came across this cute picture of orphaned baby bats, they're wrapped in swaddling clothes. 

Dat bracht me op het idee om óók een paar vleermuisweesjes in te bakeren J!

Al deze vleermuisjes zijn niet helemaal in 1:12 schaal, want in het echt zijn hun lijfjes ongeveer 4-5 cm lang, dus dat zou in miniatuur ongeveer 4 mm lengte zijn. Omdat dát voor mij echt niet te realiseren was, heb ik ze 6-8mm lichaamslengte gegeven, kleiner kon ik ze niet maken. 

Zelfs nu zijn ze al bijna niet te hanteren met mijn pincet, ze blijven maar naar de tafel fladderen met hun vlerkjes ;)!

This picture gave me the idea for also wrapping up of some bat orphans J!

All of these dwarf bats aren’t exactly in 1:12 scale, because in RL their bodies are about 4-5 cm long, so that would be 4 mm in miniature. Because this was impossible for me to realise, I gave them a body length of 6-8 mm, smaller was not possible for me. 

Even now I can’t handle them well with my tweezers, they keep on fluttering to the table ;)!

De dwergvleermuisjes hebben een geel grijze buik, terwijl hun rug roodachtig bruin van kleur is. Ik heb hiervoor flock-poeder gebruikt, die ik gemengd heb tot de juiste kleuren.

De totale spanwijdte van hun miniatuur vleugels (als ze vliegen ;O) is bijna 3 cm.

The dwarf bats have yellow gray fur on their belly, while their spine side has a reddish brown color. I’ve used flock powder for this purpose, which I’ve mixed up until I got the exact colors.

The total span width of their miniature wings (when they are flying ;O) is almost 3 cm.

De laatste foto uit mijn vorige blogpost was van een paar vleermuisoogjes, dus niemand heeft het juiste antwoord geraden hihihi :D!

Er ligt nog meer 'harig' spul op mijn werktafel, nou, volgende keer zien we wel wat dat zal zijn….
