De Bromelia Guzmania lingulata “Scarlet Star” bestaat uit een ‘kokertje’ van gekleurde bladeren, daarom wordt de Bromelia ook wel Kokerplant genoemd. De Bromelia wordt veelal in de tropische regenwouden van Midden- en Zuid-Amerika gevonden.

The Bromeliad plant Guzmania lingulata “Scarlet Star” exists of a kind of “tube” of colored leaves. The Bromeliad plant is mostly found in the rainforests of Central and South-America.

Ik hoop dat je het water kunt zien, wat in de bladoksels zit..?

I hope you can see the water in the armpits of the leaves..?

De bloemkop van deze plant vormt een brede, diepe beker met meerdere schutbladeren, die in lagen groeien. De kleur van deze bloei loopt van diepgroen, die langzaam verdwijnt naar geel.

Tegen de tijd dat de schutbladeren uitwaaieren van de steel van de bloem, veranderen ze in een diepscharlaken rode (of oranje). De bladeren zijn lang en de kleur verloopt van een lichtgroene kleur en zacht van textuur, en groeien uit naar leerachtige, diepgroene bladeren.

Mijn miniplantje is dus nog een jonkie ;).

The flower head of this plant forms a wide, deep cup with multiple bracts, coming out in layers. The coloration of these blooms begins as a deep green, which slowly fades into a yellow.

By the time the bracts drape away from the main cup of the flower, they turn a deep, scarlet red (or orange). The leaves are long and umbrella out from the central stalk of the plant. They begin as a light green color with a soft feel, and mature into leathery, deep green leaves.

So, my miniature plant is still a young one ;).
