Papegaai tulpen / Parrot tulips

Tulpen zijn er in vele variaties, niet alleen in kleur, maar ook in vorm. Tijdens de laatste miniaturen show in Ulft, kreeg ik de vraag of ik ook papegaai tulpen kon maken. Na wat probeersels kwam deze tulp tevoorschijn…

Tulips come in many variations, not only in color, but in shape too. During the last DHN-show in Ulft, I got the question if I could make parrot tulips. After some tryouts this tulip emerged ...

En ja, dit is de bloem van deze foto ;)! Niemand heeft het goed geraden, behalve op Facebook. Daar kwam Idske er het dichtste bij (zij noemde een tulp), maar het was dan ook moeilijk om te raden.

And yes, this is the flower of this picture ;)! No one has guessed it right, except on Facebook. It was only Idske, who came quite close (she said it was a tulip), but it was also difficult to guess.

Deze tulp heeft bovendien een andere vorm van bloemblaadjes, dan de gewone tulp: elk bloemblaadje (van ongeveer 5 mm in omtrek) is ongeveer 12-15 keer ingeknipt om de franjes te vormen. Daarnaast zijn er diverse streepjes op elk bloemblaadje geschilderd. Al met al veel werk op elk bloemblaadje, in totaal 6 per bloem.

This tulip, moreover, has a different shape of flower petals, in comparison with the normal tulip: each petal (of approximately 5mm in diameter) has been cut in at the edges for approximately 12-15 times for shaping the fringes. In addition, there are painted several very small lines, on each petal. All in all alot of work on each petal, in total of six per flower.

Tot nu toe heb ik drie papegaaitulpen in verschillende kleuren kunnen maken, want er gaat heel veel tijd in zitten ;)

So far I have been able to make three parrot tulips in three different colors, because they take a lot of time to make ;)

In verband met een verhuizing (nee, niet de mijne) heb ik deze week niet veel aan mijn miniatuurwerk kunnen doen. 

Toch heb ik wél de tijd genomen om een paar fijne wandelingen door mijn prachtige omgeving te maken, lekker uitwaaien en genieten van wat er allemaal te zien valt: hier zijn een paar foto’s!

Due to a house move (no, not mine) this past week, I haven't done much of miniature work. 

But I've taken the time for making some lovely walks by my beautiful region, getting some fresh air and enjoying of what there is to see: here are a few photos!
