Bloggen is zo leuk! / Blogging is so nice!

I never would have thought that blogging about miniatures would be so much fun :D! That way you can have a nice contact with lots of kind people over the whole world, who also love to make miniatures.

Last December I was so lucky to win some very beautiful give away’s, I have written about them in previous posts. The last prize I won was from Natalia, of http://scarletsailsminiatures.blogspot.com she made me so very happy with silk gauze for embroidery.  In the mean time I have received from her the silk gauze.

But I was very surprised after opening the envelope, because after I found a very beautiful Christmas card, there were still some extras. It was a needlepoint pattern for a pillow to embroider a Christmas pillow with Santa Claus. Moreover, Natalia was so thoughtful to think of adding a very fine embroider needle, because I didn’t have such a needle :D!!
Natalia, I thank you (again) from the bottom of my heart, I am very happy with this silk gauze.

In a comment on my last blogpost there was a comment from Tanja (I can’t find your blog, if you have one, would you let me know, please?). She told me that I also could buy silk gauze in The Netherlands, namely here:
Therefore it is nice to have a blog too, so thank you so much, Tanja :D!!

Yesterday I got these beautiful tulips from my daughter, as a harbinger of spring :D. I would like to share with you their beauty through my blog. Maybe it is time to make some miniature tulips again.

Speaking about spring……..where is the winter actually? I know that in lots of states of the USA there is a polar vortex, which is bringing there very bad and polar cold weather with all its consequences. But here in The Netherlands we had no winter at all, Mother Nature here is completely confused, look…..

….have you ever seen red yellow (no rotten) apples on the trees in January in The Netherlands??? I don’t!

The same is for the blackberries, they still hang (here and there) on the blackberry bushes, completely air dried and still with a touch of their color. That is odd for this month of January!

Last weekend I got a pinched muscle in my shoulder, it hurt a lot. I am recovering from this, it feels much better now after my GP gave me a muscle relaxing medication.
So since a few days I can go out for a walk through my area and this afternoon an enthusiastic group of teenagers came to me in a rush. I guess that they didn't see anyone for a while, or they must have known I love red and white cowies ;)!
Fortunately they stopped just before the fence, of course, because you can't run through this.

It struck me that there was one cow with a very strange 'piercing' in her nose. She probably likes to take a sip........at other cows, that's why!

A warm welcome to my new followers and thank you all for your nice comments :D!
Have a nice weekend!

Ilona

Hi Ilona,

It's so nice that you have your blog because it is a wonderful blog. Such nice gifts from Natalia! I am so surprised to see how green your grass is and how it looks more like Spring there then winter! Lovely tulips from your daughter. Make me happy to see them here in Michigan, USA where we have at least two feet of snow on the ground right now and it is in the teens in Fahrenheit.

Hello Ilona,
What a great prize! I cannot wait to see it finished. I hope you are feeling better and not in any pain. The pictures of the tulips and the trees and bushes are beautiful. We never see that in January around Montreal.

I agree, blogging is so nice. I hope we get to see that cute little Santa needlework when it is finished. Those tulips are gorgeous too.

Fijn weekend Xandra

Oh, how come? No winter at all? Strange! But because of that you have a very long spring! :)
Congrats on winning Natalia's give-away!
Can't wait to see your tulips in miniature!

Hi Ilona! You were meant to win that gauze from Natalia and I know that the work that you shall do will be Excellent as is everything that you do. I would love to see you make some tulips in miniature in honor of the extra early spring that you are having there. Here on the south west coast of Canada, the wind is bitter and goes right through you. I had seen robins last week but not any more. Perhaps they decided to turn back around and head south again, before it is too late. Snow is predicted for this weekend and for this neck of the woods that means more unprepared drivers on the road. :( Hurry up Spring... where ever you are.

Glad that your pinched shoulder is on the mend.:))

Hallo Ilona,
Ja bloggen is heerlijk! Zo'n neusring heb nooit eerder gezien.
Veel liefs,
Véronique

Amazing photos! ;)

Hi Ilona! I have to agree, bloggers are some of the nicest people I've come in contact with. Of course shared interests help!
Great gifts! It's always nice when you get more than you thought you would!
Winter just hasn't happened in my part of the UK, we've had no snow at all. Lots of rain (as usual) and only a few frosty mornings, that's all we've had for the past 3 months.
Kind regards, Brian.

In Denmark, it is almost spring in the air, I know you like winter, but I love this weather. Good recovery.

Hi IIona,
I can't imagine not being able to blog, or read other blogs now. So nice to be part of the online community.

Hope your shoulder feels much better now.

Anna zei

Glad you're feeling better, Ilona - getting hurt is never pleasant!

What lovely gifts - I expect I'll see tiny needlework in future posts :)

I do have to wonder how miniaturists ever sourced things or learned new skills in the pre-computer era...I don't have a miniatures store nearby or any mini fairs within reasonable driving distance, so *everything* (except the plywood, strip wood, card stock, paint, and glue that I use to build my houses) has to be found and ordered online. And if I want to learn a new technique...hello, blog-land (until the day I can attend a fair).

The crazy weather seems to be worst in the northern and eastern parts of the US. My relatives in Florida got a cold spell that lasted about a week, but it's hot again...and here in California, it's been one of the warmest winters of my life. We don't get much rain anyway, but it just rained for the first time in several months, which is unusually dry.

Piikko zei

Hi Ilona!
Thank you for wonderful photos and news from Netherlands. I agree with many things with you: the weather IS strange this 'winter', teenagers you met ARE such a cuties and blogging really IS a lot of fun!
Have great weekend you too! :)

I agree, I am so glad the internet exists! :D and that is a lovely prize to win from Natalia, congrats!

Nothing but cloud, and rain here in Ireland for Winter. We had a normal winter :D

Hi Ilona! I am hoping your shoulder gets better quickly! Those things are never fun... and worse if they mean no mini-making allowed! I see you are having a Springlike Winter! We must have kept all your Winter over here... it is Cold and then Cold and then almost warm and then COLD again! And snow too... but not as much as some years!
I think Natalia was very thoughtful to send you the needles as well as the gauze and a pattern!!! Yes, bloggers are some of the best people I know!!! I look forward to seeing your stitching...!

Liefs,Liduina

Hey Ilona. By now I hope your shoulder is completely recovered! What cute gifts you got there and I agree with you that blogland is a very nice place to be....you can really meet a lot of lovely people that support you in any way they can. I love the tulips that your daughter got you....Tulips are in absolute, my favorite flowers and when I went to Amsterdam the first thing I wanted to see where those huge fields full of colorful tulips. I have a lot of tulip bulbs in my garden and every time they start to come up I feel very happy because I do enjoy to look at them.
Big hug!!
